Footage of the Pakistani national flag flying above Westminster Abbey in London has caused a stir online with British people asking why the Union Jack was no where to be seen.
The flag was there in recognition of Pakistan Day, a national holiday which commemorates the passing of the Lahore Resolution, under which a separate nation for the Muslims of the British Indian empire demanded by the Muslim League was passed on March 23, 1940, as well as the adoption of the first Constitution of Pakistan on 23 March 1956, making Pakistan the world’s first Islamic republic.
A prayer event was held within the Abbey, attended by officials from Pakistan High Commission.
A problem with this, as some pointed out, is that Pakistan still has brutal blasphemy laws, and a history of persecuting Christians.
Others just wanted to know why the British flag had to be replaced over the national Abbey.
Perhaps this wouldn’t be such a hot button topic, were British people not made to constantly feel they should be ashamed of their own flag, as if it is some sort of hate symbol.

Putting up the Pakistani flag is the new high water mark of bend over and spread them to the indigenous peoples of Britain. This by their own politicians and religious leaders. I pray that fish and chip owner tells the city council to stuff it, it’s my right have my flag on the mural. BTW Vladimir, not all Canadians are the “worst”.
