Major television networks coordinated a refusal to broadcast President Trump’s primetime address to the nation Thursday night, leaving tens of millions of Americans without live access to newly declassified intelligence detailing China’s massive compromise of U.S. voter data and the intelligence community’s efforts to bury it.
While the president laid out evidence of foreign interference, suppressed reports, and systemic weaknesses in election infrastructure, ABC, NBC, CBS and CNN chose regular programming or limited coverage instead.
Trump responded by calling for their broadcast licenses to be reexamined. The blackout itself has become the story, confirming what many already knew: legacy media will not allow unfiltered information that challenges the official narrative on 2020 or the security of the system.
CNN explicitly declined to air the address live. A network statement explained: “We’ll be watching tonight’s presidential address and listening to what the president says tonight. But we’re not going to take it live, as we’ve been discussing. That’s because this president, sadly, has a history of misleading and, in some cases, simply false statements.”
“Are they COLLUDING to filter and censor the President of the United States? What are they afraid of?!” Eric Daugherty asked.
The New York Post reported Trump’s direct response during the speech, calling for ABC and NBC to lose their broadcast licenses for not airing it.
Later reporting confirmed the decision was made at the executive level.
In the address, Trump announced the immediate declassification of intelligence showing the People’s Republic of China carried out what is described as the largest compromise of election data in history.
China illicitly acquired 220 million U.S. voter files containing names, addresses, phone numbers, political party preferences and other sensitive data.
Trump stated that U.S. spy agencies learned of the compromise of voter registration files in 2020, discovering that tens of millions of voter data records in 18 states had been bought, stolen or hacked by China.
Those responsible for sounding the alarm kept the information secret from the president, Congress and the public while insisting the election was “the most secure in American history.”
Raw intelligence obtained by the FBI in 2020, later buried, indicated China’s activities included an attempt to manufacture illegal ballots for Joe Biden.
Documents showed dozens of significant CIA and NSA reports about China’s election targeting were kept out of the presidential daily briefing.
One email among intelligence analysts admitted they had “deliberately massaged the presidential daily briefing to withhold information regarding Chinese activities related to the election.”
An FBI official wrote that she was running “a shadow government” to keep intelligence about China’s election meddling from becoming known and away from the press.
Trump also referenced significant numbers of burn bags containing information ordered destroyed under Barack Obama that were supposed to be incinerated but were not.
He directed the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Department of Justice, the FBI and the CIA to investigate the cover-up, fire those involved and pursue criminal charges where appropriate.
Additional declassified material showed China planned influence operations to stoke violent unrest, exploit COVID response divisions, and use social media and media assets to turn public opinion against Trump. One document indicated efforts to blackmail U.S. officials with derogatory information.
Nick Sortor summarized the core betrayal: the CIA, FBI and NSA knew in 2020 that China was attempting to manufacture fake ballots and hid it from the president.
CBS went further, posting a “fact-check” rating Trump’s claims false while the speech was still underway and before the newly declassified records had been publicly reviewed.
Trump declassified a swath of files proving 2020 was breached by the Chinese and covered up by the deep state, with voter fraud in Michigan ignored and hundreds of thousands of noncitizens registered to vote.
Benny Johnson and others noted the documents also detail China’s use of CCP-linked assets in U.S. media and social media to inflame the 2020 BLM unrest.

The White House has posted the declassified materials at whitehouse.gov/election-integrity, spanning assessments from January 2020 to June 2026 that confirm adversaries including China have the capability to compromise U.S. election infrastructure, particularly voter registration databases.
The networks’ decision to withhold the speech from live broadcast, followed by rapid “fact-checks” of material they had not examined, underscores a deeper institutional refusal to confront evidence that challenges years of messaging.
Americans who wanted the unfiltered information found it on X instead. The blackout did not suppress the story. It amplified it.
