Trump Hails Tariffs ‘Trillions’ Windfall: ‘Stopped 5 Of The 8 Wars’

Slams court challenges as bid to ‘destroy our country’

President Trump touted his tariff regime as a golden goose Saturday on Truth Social, crediting the duties with raking in “trillions of dollars,” halting global conflicts, and fueling record stock highs—while torching legal foes as “slimeballs” hellbent on national sabotage.

Trump urged, “We are taking in trillions of dollars in tariffs and investment dollars from foreign lands because of tariffs. I have stopped 5 of the eight wars directly because of the threat of tariffs if they don’t stop fighting, or better yet, if they start.

He continued, “There is almost no inflation, and the worst in USA history under sleepy Joe Biden. The stock market just hit an all-time high for the 48th time in 9 months. To Leonard Leo, Koch, and all of the countries and slimeballs that have ripped off the United States of America for years through the use of their own tariffs, we don’t have a court system that’s going to let you destroy our country any longer.”

“This is the richest, strongest, and most respected the USA has ever been, Trump proclaimed, adding “Tariffs, are the reason why. Thank you for your attention to this matter! president DJT.”

The boast arrives amid Supreme Court skepticism over his trade war’s legality, where justices grilled the administration on exceeding presidential powers under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) earlier this month.

Trump’s “Liberation Day” duties have supercharged revenue, with FY2025 customs collections hit $165.2B through August, a 137% surge from 2024, per USAFacts, with monthly hauls topping $30B by September. Projections eye $158B more this year alone, ballooning to trillions over a decade via reciprocal hikes on EU, India, and beyond—funding infrastructure without tax hikes, Trump claims.

Trump also touts averting five conflicts, wielding tariffs as a “big stick” that forced ceasefires without shots fired.

Yet this proclaimed ‘golden age’ faces judicial challenge by way of over 50 lawsuits from importers, farmers, and WTO allies assailing the tariffs as IEEPA overreach—emergency powers meant for crises, not chronic trade gripes.

Lower courts split but ruled unlawful in key cases like V.O.S. Selections v. Trump, deeming them “arbitrary” and beyond Section 232/301 authority.

SCOTUS’s November 5 grilling—where even liberal justices like Sotomayor probed “unbounded” executive fiat—signals trouble, with a reversal potentially forcing $195B in refunds.

Trump has warned that these “ridiculous” challenges, allegedly bankrolled by Koch networks and Leo-backed PACs, are a desperate ploy to “destroy our country,” ignoring how rivals like China (60% average tariffs) have gouged U.S. exporters for decades.

As Brookings notes, suits ignore the duties’ 1%+ GDP revenue spike—fivefold pre-Trump levels—while whining over “economic costs” like 0.5% inflation bumps.

With November 5th’s “mandate,” Trump vows no retreat, decreeing that tariffs aren’t taxes, but rather tools to “make America respected again.”
