NBC Slammed For Reporting On “Abandoned” Human Leg On NYC Subway

Lumps in a limb with junk thrown onto tracks

NBC News is receiving a right royal roasting online after reporting that a human leg has been found “abandoned” on a New York subway line.

The leg was found on Saturday along the No. 4 subway line in Concourse, a neighborhood in the Bronx, according to reports.

“Upon arrival, officers observed a human leg along the roadbed,” an NYPD spokesperson told Norwood News, adding “The leg was removed and the investigation remains ongoing.”

The New York Post notes that the leg may belong to a man who was killed by a train 9 miles away and whose body was discovered on February 12 missing the left leg, according to police.

This is how NBC News reported the incident:

Like the leg was left there by choice, as if it’s a puppy no one wants.

The report also lists other things that have been left on the tracks, including a blender and a welder’s mask, as if a human limb is just another piece of junk thrown onto the rails.

Is this just another part of the “price of freedom” in American cities that we’ve been hearing so much about lately?
