Donald Trump says he has chosen his running mate for the 2024 race, suggesting that it may be someone with connections to the U.S. Military.
During an hour-long town hall event in Des Moines, Iowa, Trump was asked by Fox host Martha MacCallum if he had chosen the potential future VP.
“Well, I can’t tell you that really. I mean, I know who it’s going to be,” responded Trump.
The former president also stated that some of the “very most important people in the military” had asked to be in his administration.
Trump suggested that he had learned a lot from his four years in the White House, asserting, “Now I’ve gotten to know Washington — to know the people — I know the best, I know the smart ones, and the weak ones, the strong ones.”
Sarah Huckerbee Sanders, Kristi Noem, and Elise Stefanik are all thought to be in the running to be on the ticket.
As we previously highlighted, a source told Axios that Melania Trump is urging her husband to pick former Fox News host Tucker Carlson as his VP.
Melania believes Carlson would be “a powerful onstage extension of her husband,” although it seems likelier that Trump will pick a woman or someone with experience in government or the military.
Meanwhile, Democrats are still scrambling to find a way to replace Joe Biden given his poor poll numbers and the fact that he is quite obviously suffering from early onset dementia.
