Berlin Police Remove Advice to “Sing” While Being Knife Attacked After Public Backlash

Berlin Police have withdrawn advice they gave to potential stabbing victims to “sing loudly” while being attacked after receiving a public backlash.

The advice was initially given after 48,200 physical assaults in Berlin were recorded last year, the highest figure in 10 years.

“A screenshot of our homepage has been circulating for a few days, according to which we recommend that in the event of an attack, you irritate the perpetrator through unexpected behavior, such as singing,” Berlin’s official police account posted on X.

“This is recommended by the professional associations for psychiatry, among others. However, this advice does not correspond to our police experience and has therefore no longer been part of our recommendations since 2023. The flyer was already updated, now our website is too,” added the tweet.

The advice was mercilessly mocked online, with Berliner Zeitung reporting, “What sounds like a bad joke is actually meant seriously.”

Germans questioned why the advice still remained up on the official Police Berlin website despite the fact that they knew it didn’t work last year.

There are now 10 knife attacks in Berlin a day, part of a growing problem that has been exacerbated by mass migration.

“According to Berlin police, 3,482 knife attacks were recorded in the city last year. In 918 cases, people were seriously injured. Over half of the suspects, 53.5 percent, did not have a German passport,” reports Remix News.

“Only 25 percent of Berliners do not have German citizenship, showing the disproportionately high role of foreigners in such crimes. In addition, the data shows that 16 percent of the “German” suspects have a dual passport. Even those German suspects with only a German passport, many of them have a foreign background through their parents or grandparents.”

As we previously highlighted, according to government statistics, foreign migrant suspects are responsible for nearly 6 in 10 violent crimes in Germany.

Despite comprising roughly 14.6 per cent of the population, foreign migrants were responsible for 58.5 per cent of all violent crimes.

Foreigners without a German passport make up 111,517 suspects alleged of violent crimes out of the total 190,605 suspects for the country as a whole.

The statistics were released by the Federal Criminal Police Office and reported by broadcaster NTV.
