During a pre recorded interview with Univision, Joe Biden asserted that Donald Trump’s words are the biggest threat to freedom in the US.
The interviewer, Enrique Acevedo asked Biden “What in your view constitutes the primary threat to freedom and democracy at home?”
Biden responded, “Donald Trump. Seriously, Donald Trump talking.”
Biden added that Trump “uses phrases like he is going to ‘eviscerate the Constitution’ and ‘be a dictator on day one.’”
He continued “The idea that he would sit in the Oval Office for hours… and watch the attack on the Capitol, destruction, mayhem, and people died, police officers were killed, and call them political heroes, patriots, and saying if he gets elected he is going to free them all because they are being held illegally.”
Biden then tried to appeal to Univision’s Hispanic audience, saying “think of the things [Trump] says. The way, when he talks about minority populations, Hispanics.”
He added, “I can’t think of any other time in my lifetime, in history, when we’ve had somebody who has this kind of attitude. He says he’s going to be a dictator on day one, nobody doesn’t believe it.”
Count the lies in there.
Trump never said he wanted to eviscerate the Constitution. As usual, his words were taken completely out of context. Trump said in 2022, while condemning it, that election fraud “allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution.”
He wasn’t calling for the termination of the Constitution, and to suggest he was is as disingenuous as it gets.
During the same interview Biden claimed that he is “examining” whether he has the power to close the border or not, despite having advanced close to 100 executive actions on the matter after taking office.
Trump’s approval with Hispanics has soared to the point where he is essentially level with Biden, a remarkable feat given that in 2020 Biden was some 20 percentage points ahead with Hispanic voters.
On border issues, recent polling has found that Hispanics overwhelmingly prefer Trump to Biden.
