JK Rowling Blasts Humza Yousaf’s “Illiberal Authoritarianism” Over Hate Law

“Yousef will get his richly deserved comeuppance”

Author JK Rowling has slammed Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf as an ‘authoritarian’ after he described her social media posts in defence of women’s rights as “upsetting and offensive.”

Rowling, who has been at the centre of the storm over the country’s ridiculous new hate crime laws, responded to the comments, writing the following:

Rowling also commented that Yousaf will “get his richly deserved comeuppance” when Scottish people vote.

Yousaf has ludicrously cited an example of some offensive graffiti that was discovered near his home as a reason why the hate crime laws are needed.

On Thursday, he proclaimed to BBC Scotland News during an interview that the hate laws are working as intended because Rowling’s posts are not being treated as criminal offences, and only “threatening or abusive abusive” comments that seek to “stir up” hatred will meet that criteria.

The posts that Yousaf was referring to as “offensive” were Rowling declaring that she intends to keep calling a man a man, referring to several trans personalities, including India Willoughby.

“JK Rowling’s tweets may well be offensive, upsetting and insulting to trans people. But it doesn’t mean that they meet a threshold of criminality,” Yousaf said.

Rowling’s response immediately went viral and she has continued to be outspoken.

The following post was deleted by Rowling, however:

Meanwhile, Yousaf dismissed claims by senior Conservative Murdo Fraser that Police Scotland is guilty of double standards and “making it up as they go along” after it refused to record a hate crime incident against the Yousaf for his infamous ‘anti-white’ speech, but did record one against Murdo himself for a post stating “choosing to identify as ‘non-binary’ is as valid as choosing to identify as a cat”.

As we have highlighted, Police Scotland was deluged with nearly 4,000 complaints in the first day alone after the passage of the absurd new law, proving the legislation is being weaponised by activists.

Lawyers have also suggested that an entire football stadium of fans would need to be arrested when Rangers play Celtic this weekend in order to enforce the new hate law, given that “Rangers fans have various songs about the Pope which are extremely rude and make a lot of jokes about all Catholic priests being sex offenders. Then Celtic sing Irish republican songs.”
