Leftist outlet Politico faced backlash online after it declared sex trafficking by friend to the elite Jeffrey Epstein to be a “conspiracy theory.”
In an article posted Tuesday, Politico suggested that the “Epstein list,” is a “sex trafficking conspiracy theory” that is “buzzy in MAGA circles”:
The story asserts that “the far right is obsessed with sex trafficking,” and states “a day before the so-called Epstein list was supposed to drop, far-right conspiracy theorists buzzed with excitement over the expectation that it would crucify prominent figures on the left for their involvement in sex trafficking.”
The piece continues, “It’s a wildly popular notion in that world, where Pizzagate and QAnon fantasies run rampant.”
Ok. Jeffrey Epstein’s real crimes are now some kind of far right fantasy.
The ‘report’ then becomes an interview with some guy called Mike Rothschild who debunks ‘conspiracy theories’ for a living.
He explains that the Epstein list “really ties back to this industry of conspiracy theories about the Clintons. I think they really feel like this will be the thing that brings down Bill and Hillary Clinton. They’re still obsessed with the Clintons.”
The backlash was swift:
This move by Politico comes in the wake of Vanity Fair, and a host of other leftist outlets pretty much doing the exact same thing.
