Joe Biden has suggested that he won’t run for a second term in the White House next year if Donald Trump is not in the race.
Biden made the comments during a meeting with donors near Boston.
“If Trump wasn’t running, I’m not sure I’d be running,” he said on Tuesday. “We cannot let him win.”
The Telegraph reported that the remarks will raise eyebrows amongst “those who worry about both Mr Biden’s age and loose tongue.”
Biden later clarified the remarks saying “I have to run.”
Meanwhile, during a town hall event last night, Trump told Shaun Hannity, “I personally don’t think he makes it … I think he’s in bad shape physically,” before joking that if Biden ‘took him behind a barn’ as promised, Trump could blow on him and he would fall over.
As we previously highlighted, earlier this year, leading Democrats began reaching out to “possible replacements” for Biden because they know that the 80 year old president will not run for a second term.
CNN reported that “almost two dozen current Biden aides, top Democratic operatives and donors, and alumni of other recent campaigns” were concerned that “multiple big donors aren’t locking in,” and that “grassroots emails are sometimes bringing in just a few thousand dollars.”
Biden’s endless public embarrassments have become a total cliche, with the president routinely getting lost on stage and becoming incoherent when giving speeches.
Many assert that Biden is clearly suffering from early onset dementia and would get totally wiped out in the debates.
During his last campaign, Biden was able to exploit concerns over COVID to famously stay in his ‘basement’, often calling a lid on the day’s activity early and steadfastly refusing media appearances.
Polling undertaken last month by The New York Times and Siena College showed that Trump was beating Biden in five of the six key battleground states.
