A petition to remove “white supremacist” PewDiePie from YouTube is receiving a huge backlash from the Swede’s army of fans.
The petition was set up by Maria Ruiz after the Christchurch mosque attack by and has received over 60,000 signatures.
It claims, “One of the largest platforms for white supremacist content is PewDiePie’s YouTube channel. PewDiePie has on many occasions proven once and again to promote and affiliate himself with white supremacist and Nazi ideologies.”
However, the petition is now being ridiculed by Pewds’ ever enthusiastic fanbase, with a counter-petition having been set up demanding its removal.
“Maria Ruiz is a person who is doing a petition of hate to a Youtuber called PewDiePie,” states the pro-Pewds petition. “I just want someone to close that petition… that’s all…”
PewDiePie’s fearsome “9-year-old army” took to Twitter to offer their support.
Dear Maria Ruiz (creator of this petition)
You're so god damn retarded. If you would use more than two brain cells you would see that "hey, this guy isn't a white supremacist at all, he just has an edgy sense of humor"
Posts like these annoy me. ? https://t.co/TxPFz0q7pf
