Watch: CNN Immediately Blamed TRUMP For Islamic Terror Attack On Michigan Synagogue

Analyst rushes to pin blame on President’s Iran strikes amid fears of activated sleeper cells

An armed man rammed his vehicle packed with explosives into Temple Israel synagogue in West Bloomfield, Michigan, sparking a deadly shootout with security. Just minutes later, CNN’s Juliette Kayyem floated the idea that President Trump’s military actions against Iran triggered the violence.

The incident marked the second apparent Islamic terror incident on U.S. soil in one day, raising alarms about Iran’s reported activation of sleeper cells targeting America.

CNN senior national security analyst Juliette Kayyem quickly linked the attack to U.S. strikes on Iran during her appearance on “CNN News Central.”

“It is something that all of us have been warning about, that this may be a regional war, but it’s going to have global consequences,” Kayyem said.

She added, “one of them is going to be incitement, radicalization, in particular, as Islamic terrorist groups are utilizing the war like ISIS to go online and to lure people to violence … One, of course, what we’ve seen today attacks against the Jewish community and then, of course, attacks against Iranian Americans.”

“And so all of that is part of this horrible stew of terrorism and incitement that we live in now in a world online and in a world where violence is too prevalent. And so once again, the fact that the sheriff said two weeks, that’s not a coincidental two weeks,” Kayyem further blathered.

While the attacker died at the scene, according to Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard, Emergency responders discovered a large cache of explosives in the vehicle after it ignited. Bouchard reported no other fatalities, though one security member was struck by the car and hospitalized. A shelter-in-place order was issued for nearby residents.

Hours earlier, another shooting unfolded at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Mohamed Jalloh, a Sierra Leone immigrant, allegedly shot three people, killing one.

FBI officials confirmed Jalloh shouted “Allahu Akbar” before the attack and had been under investigation for material supporting terrorism.

Authorities say Jalloh entered a classroom on the Virginia campus and asked whether it was an ROTC class before opening fire, killing an instructor and wounding two students. An unidentified ROTC cadet rushed the gunman and stabbed him, ending the attack before it could escalate further.

Jalloh had previously been convicted of attempting to provide material support to ISIS and served time in federal prison before his early release in December 2024. FBI Director Kash Patel noted that several courageous students confronted and restrained the gunman, stopping the attack and likely preventing additional casualties.

These incidents have raised questions over whether they are tied to Iranian sleepers inside the country. U.S. intelligence intercepted an encrypted Iranian message seen as a trigger for covert operatives abroad, following Khamenei’s death on the first day of strikes against Iran.

Security experts highlighted risks from organized cells and lone actors, with former DHS adviser Charles Marino noting potential strikes on soft targets like events or the upcoming World Cup.

Iran’s new leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, faces internal unrest, while Tehran has directly threatened Trump. Security chief Ali Larijani responded to Trump’s warnings with: “Even those greater than you could not eliminate the Iranian nation. Take care of yourself not to be eliminated!”

The synagogue assailant was a naturalized U.S. citizen from Lebanon, residing in Dearborn—part of radical Democrat Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s district.

Latest reports indicate the FBI is probing the synagogue attack as potential terrorism. No injuries were reported inside the synagogue, which houses a childcare center and school.
