A four-time deported illegal alien from Honduras has been arrested in New York City after allegedly shoving an 83-year-old Air Force veteran and another man onto subway tracks, leaving the veteran in critical condition with multiple fractures and brain bleeding.
The suspect, 34-year-old Bairon Posada-Hernandez, attacked the victims from behind at a Bronx subway station on Sunday, according to reports. The elderly victim, Richard Williams, is now fighting for his life in the hospital.

“Bairon Posada-Hernandez is a serial criminal and four-time deported illegal alien from Honduras who should never have been able to walk our streets and harm innocent Americans,” DHS Deputy Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said.
“We are praying for the victims and their families. DHS is calling upon New York sanctuary politicians to commit to this [Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)] detainer and not release this heinous criminal back into New York communities,” she added.
Williams’ granddaughter, Samantha Loria, shared the heartbreaking impact on her family. “The hardest part is I can’t have a conversation, or hug him again,” she told CBS News New York. “Any time I visit him, we walk around. We would go to Manhattan. He would always say hi to everyone, ask how they’re doing. It doesn’t hurt anything to be kind.”
The younger victim, 30-year-old Jhon Rodriguez, described the chaos after seeing Williams’ head strike the tracks. “I felt really scared. I was trembling. I felt disoriented,” Rodriguez told CBS News, noting he’s been in severe pain and unable to work since the attack.
Rodriguez and another bystander quickly pulled Williams to safety before an oncoming train arrived, averting an even greater disaster.
Posada-Hernandez entered the U.S. illegally in 2008 and was deported four times by July 2020. Despite a rap sheet including at least 15 prior charges for aggravated assault, domestic violence, weapon possession, obstruction of police, simple assault, and drug possession, he managed to re-enter and remain free.
He faces charges of first-degree assault and attempted murder, with a court appearance set for Friday. DHS issued a detainer on him Wednesday evening, but New York’s sanctuary status raises doubts about whether local officials will honor it.
