Facing the hammer of contempt charges, Bill and Hillary Clinton have finally capitulated, agreeing to testify before the House Oversight Committee on their extensive ties to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.
With Democrats joining the contempt vote, the Clintons had no choice but to comply, marking a pivotal moment in exposing the networks that protected predators among the powerful.
The saga began escalating in December 2025, when Chairman James Comer delivered a clear ultimatum to the Clintons.
Comer laid out the delays plainly: “It has been more than four months since Bill and Hillary Clinton were subpoenaed to sit for depositions related to our investigation into Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell’s horrific crimes. Throughout that time, the former President and former Secretary of State have delayed, obstructed, and largely ignored the Committee staff’s efforts to schedule their testimony.”
A committee spokesperson reinforced the message: “We communicated to the Clintons’ attorney today that they must appear next week or provide a date in early January to appear for their depositions or we will begin contempt of Congress proceedings. They’ve been dragging their feet for over four months. Time’s up.”
By January 2026, the Clintons dug in their heels, outright refusing to appear and labeling the subpoenas invalid.
Their letter framed the resistance as a principled stand: “Every person has to decide when they have seen or had enough and are ready to fight for this country, its principles and its people, no matter the consequences… For us, now is that time.”
They went further, accusing Comer of engineering a witch hunt “literally designed to result in our imprisonment” and predicting he would “release irrelevant, decades-old photos that you hope will embarrass us.”
That bravado crumbled as the House advanced contempt recommendations, with even some Democrats voting yes. Now, the Clintons have signaled their agreement to appear for depositions on mutually agreeable dates, while urging a pause on the contempt proceedings.

Comer had earlier rejected their push for lenient terms, like a voluntary interview in New York with custom transcription rules. He called out the entitlement: “Your clients’ desire for special treatment is both frustrating and an affront to the American people’s desire for transparency.”
Highlighting the timeline of evasion, Comer noted: “It has been nearly six months since your clients first received the Committee’s subpoena, more than three months since the original date of their depositions, and nearly three weeks since they failed to appear for their depositions commensurate with the Committee’s lawful subpoenas.”

— Rep. James Comer (@RepJamesComer) February 3, 2026
Once it became clear that the House of Representatives would hold them in contempt, the Clintons completely CAVED and will appear for transcribed, filmed depositions this month.
Former President Clinton will appear for a deposition on February 27, 2026 and former…
He expressed doubt about relying on good faith alone: “But given that he has already failed to appear for a deposition and has refused for several months to provide the Committee with in-person testimony, the Committee cannot simply have faith that President Clinton will not refuse to answer questions at a transcribed interview, resulting in the Committee being right back where it is today.”
Responding to the latest concession, Comer remained cautious: “The Clintons’ counsel has said they agree to terms, but those terms lack clarity yet again and they have provided no dates for their depositions. The only reason they have said they agree to terms is because the House has moved forward with contempt.”
He plans to verify the details: “I will clarify the terms they are agreeing to and then discuss next steps with my committee members.”
Details on the format include Bill Clinton committing to a four-hour transcribed interview before the full committee—a setup he once deemed unfit for an ex-president.
Such an appearance is rare; no former president has testified before Congress since Gerald Ford in 1983.
The scrutiny stems from Bill Clinton’s documented entanglements, including over 20 flights on Epstein’s Lolita Express and 17 White House visits by the convicted sex trafficker.
This probe shifts focus to Democrat elites linked to Epstein, contrasting with past efforts that shielded them from fallout.
As the investigation presses on, it dismantles the notion that political royalty operates above the law.
This capitulation by the Clintons proves that relentless pursuit of truth can pierce even the thickest armor of establishment protection.
