Epstein Claimed Cellmate Tried TO MURDER HIM Weeks Before Suspicious Death

Feared returning to his cell after waking with unexplained neck marks

Newly released documents from the Epstein files are shedding light on the paedophile financier’s final weeks, where he accused his cellmate of attempting to murder him, fueling long-held suspicions of foul play.

The revelations come amid the Trump DOJ’s transparency push, exposing details that challenge the official suicide narrative and point to potential cover-ups in the deep state’s handling of the case.

The Telegraph notes, “Jeffrey Epstein claimed his cellmate tried to murder him in the weeks before his death, newly released documents say,” adding “The notes from prison officers also record an apparent attempt by the paedophile financier to take his own life around the same time.”

These prison records detail Epstein’s claims of waking up with marks around his neck that he couldn’t explain, raising questions about whether the incident was a botched suicide or something more sinister.

The documents align with ongoing scrutiny of Epstein’s 2019 death in a Manhattan jail cell, officially ruled a suicide but widely doubted due to broken surveillance cameras, absent guards, and his high-profile connections.

On July 23, 2019, Epstein was found in a fetal position in his cell with marks around his neck, bruising to his wrists, and a cut to his lip, according to incident reports. He told prison officials that his cellmate, Nicholas Tartaglione—a former police officer accused of quadruple murder—had tried to kill him.

As detailed in CBS News reports, Epstein claimed Tartaglione was threatening and extorting him, stating that if he didn’t pay, “he would beat him up.” Moments after becoming alert, Epstein gave officers his first account: he thought he had been attacked by his cellmate.

A prison psychologist noted: “I have spoken with him. He denies suicidality. He says he doesn’t know what happened. He thinks maybe someone tried to kill him.”

In an internal prison service memo, an officer observed Epstein in the suicide prevention cell, “wearing a T-shirt and boxers. He was breathing heavily.”

Handwritten notes from the files include: “Denies suicidal. Does not know what happened. Woke up with marks on neck. Cellmate tried to kill him. Cellmate is cop who killed 4 people. Tried to extort him. Threatened him.”

Tartaglione denied harming Epstein, claiming he saved his life by alerting a guard, and an internal investigation cleared Tartaglione of wrongdoing.

The files also reveal that Epstein was afraid to return to his cell, underscoring the financier’s vulnerability in custody, where he was awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges involving powerful elites.

Epstein expressed concern about Tartaglione the day before the incident, telling a corrections officer he felt threatened by the “hulking retired cop-turned-drug-dealer.”

Despite the claims, Epstein was removed from suicide watch after six days and returned to the special housing unit on July 30, initially with a new cellmate who was later transferred, leaving him alone the night before his death.

The lack of video footage from the July incident—and Epstein’s eventual death—has fueled conspiracy theories, as no camera footage was captured due to the facility’s faulty system.

New photos from the files show Epstein after the apparent suicide attempt: dazed and disheveled, laid on his back with eyes closed; arms and hands red and swollen; feet in his cell; neck and back of head.

The release of these notes follows the broader dump of Epstein materials under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, signed by President Trump on November 19, 2025.

As we earlier highlighted, the files have already exposed Bill Clinton’s deep ties to Epstein, including half-naked photos from the pedophile’s estate that prompted rage from Clinton’s chief of staff.

Angel Ureña accused the Trump administration of using Clinton as a distraction, stating: “The White House hasn’t been hiding these files for months only to dump them late on a Friday to protect Bill Clinton. This is about shielding themselves from what comes next, or from what they’ll try and hide forever.”

Ureña further claimed Clinton cut ties with Epstein before his crimes went public, adding: “No amount of stalling by people in the second group (those who didn’t cut ties) will change that. Everyone, especially MAGA, expects answers, not scapegoats.”

CNN’s Scott Jennings has blasted Democrats for trying to tie Trump to Epstein, declaring “This is the CLINTON FILES! This is the BLOWING UP in the face of the Democrats.”

He emphasized: “The reason that Bill Clinton’s picture is in the Epstein files is because this has always been a story about Bill Clinton and NOT Donald Trump!”

Jennings continued: “We should call it the Clinton files, not the Epstein files. THAT’S what we’re learning tonight. This is a story about Democrats and Bill Clinton and it’s always been that way!”

These new prison details intensify calls for full accountability, especially as House Oversight Chairman James Comer has demanded the Clintons appear for depositions or face contempt.

The couple has dodged subpoenas, stonewalling on Bill’s 20+ flights on the Lolita Express and island visits.

Trump has pushed for complete declassification, dismissing the scandal as a “Democrat Hoax” meant to distract from GOP wins.

With no evidence linking Trump to wrongdoing—and victims like Virginia Giuffre clearing his name—the spotlight remains on Clinton-era entanglements and now, the murky circumstances of Epstein’s demise.
