ICE Deports Dallas Muslim ‘Leader’ Over Hamas-Linked ‘Donations’

Terror funding crackdown echoes Somali fraud purge

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has deported a prominent Dallas Muslim leader for funneling donations to a Hamas-linked nonprofit, marking another strike in the Trump administration’s war on terror financing amid broader immigration overhauls.

The move targets Jordanian national Marwan Marouf, a well-known community leader at the Muslim American Society (MAS) of Dallas-Fort Worth, believed to have ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, who allegedly solicited funds for terror groups.

Marouf, who entered the U.S. 30 years ago, was charged with lack of a valid entry document and providing ‘material support’ for terrorism, was ordered deported after a federal judge revoked his green card for immigration violations and ties to Hamas-linked entities.

The DHS notes that “this individual presented a threat to public safety and national security,” citing Marouf’s donations to the Holy Land Foundation, a group that was designated as a “terrorist organization” by the Bush Administration in 2001.

DHS emphasized court documents revealing deeper probes into his nearly $14,000 transfers to HLF over 20 years ago.

In 2008, five HLF leaders were convicted to prison sentences between 15 and 65 years, following trial.

Immigration Judge Abdias Tida denied a request by Marouf for a voluntary departure, which would have left the door open for him to return to the U.S. legally later down the line.

Marouf’s lawyer decried it as “unfair,” but ICE confirmed: “He was removed based on violations of U.S. immigration law and his support for designated terrorist organizations.”

The lawyer said his client has accepted the decision “not as an acknowledgment of any wrongdoing but as a decision born of impossible circumstances imposed by a system that has failed him at every turn.”

Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary at the Department of Homeland Security, commented, “A green card is a privilege, not a right,” adding “If you are pushing Hamas propaganda, supporting terrorist organizations, and conducting other anti-American actions, you will face consequences.”

This deportation has echoes of recently exposed Somali scandals where “donations” funneled U.S. aid to extremist group Al-Shabaab.

President Trump has axed TPS for 100,000 plus Somalis in Minnesota, describing it as a “hub of fraudulent money laundering,” with gangs “terrorizing” and billions missing.
