Former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann apologized to CNN senior political commentator Scott Jennings on Tuesday after posting apparent threats to Jennings on Monday.
Although Olbermann rapidly deleted the posts, one of which said, “You’re next, motherfucker,” Jennings reposted a screenshot of the posts, while also appearing to tag the official account of FBI Director Kash Patel. Olbermann addressed his posts and his silence about them, on X Tuesday.
I oppose and condemn political violence, and the threat of it. All times are the wrong time to leave even an inadvertent impression of it – but this time is especially wrong

I should've acknowledged the deletion and apologized yesterday. I'm sorry I delayed.
“I apologize without reservation to @ScottJenningsKY,” Olbermann posted. “Yesterday I wrote and immediately deleted 2 responses to him about [late-night host Jimmy] Kimmel because they could be misinterpreted as a threat to anything besides his career. I immediately replaced them with ones specifying what I actually meant.”
“I oppose and condemn political violence, and the threat of it,” Olbermann added in a second post. “All times are the wrong time to leave even an inadvertent impression of it – but this time is especially wrong I should’ve acknowledged the deletion and apologized yesterday. I’m sorry I delayed.”
On his X account, Olbermann replaced the initial posts with one implying Jennings’ career on CNN wouldn’t last much longer.
“Now we get the fascists off real tv. That’d mean your career is next, Jennings. Send a tape to Real America ‘s Voice,” Olbermann said. “But keep mugging to camera, amateur.”

Prior to the apology, Olbermann made several unhinged posts targeting members of the Trump administration, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and border czar Tom Homan.
Olbermann’s apparent threats were posted the day after a massive memorial service for Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated on Sept. 10 while engaged in a “Prove Me Wrong” event at Utah Valley University.
Jennings did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
