Speaking for the first time since he was apparently forced to step aside, Joe Biden confirmed that high ranking Democrats pushed him out of the race, essentially corroborating the accusations of a ‘coup’.
In an interview with CBS’ Robert Costa, Biden stated “The polls we had showed that it was a neck-and-neck race that would have gone down to the wire. But what happened was a number of my Democratic colleagues in the House and Senate thought that I was going to hurt them in the races.”
He continued, “And I was concerned if I stayed in the race, that would be the topic — you’d be interviewing me about why did Nancy Pelosi say (unintelligible). And I thought it’d be a real distraction.”

As we’ve highlighted, it was widely reported that Pelosi told Biden that he could either step down “the easy way” or be removed “the hard way.” Biden is apparently furious with her, as mentioned by interviewer Lesley Stahl in this clip.
The end for Biden came simultaneous to Pelosi suddenly changing her tune, going from defending the president one day to saying that it was time to question his mental acuity the next.
Veteran investigative reporter Seymour Hersh has also noted that according to his sources Pelosi and Barack Obama led a group of top Democrats in ousting Biden, which culminated in threatening him with use of the 25th amendment.
Pelosi also made an odd comment on Sunday, appearing to question the authenticity of Joe Biden’s letter announcing he was dropping out.
“I didn’t accept the letter as anything but a letter. I mean, I mean in another, there are some people who were unhappy with the letter, let me say, some said that some people were unhappy with the letter,” Pelosi said.
“I’ll put it in somebody else’s mouth because it was a, I don’t even know. It didn’t sound like Joe Biden to me. It really didn’t,” Pelosi added.
At the time, it was highlighted that Biden’s “resignation” letter was not on an official letterhead, that his “signature” was underlined, something he’s never done before, and that it was written by Steve Richetti and posted to X a minute after a phone call Biden made with a full complement of senior advisers.
