Children To Be Taught In School How To “Spot Extremist Content And Misinformation”

Curriculum to be changed to “arm children against “putrid conspiracy theories”

The new leftist government in the UK has announced it will change the school curriculum in order to teach children what “extremist content and misinformation online” looks like, in order to “arm them against putrid conspiracy theories.”

The Guardian reports that the education secretary Bridget Phillipson “said she was launching a review of the curriculum in primary and secondary schools to embed critical thinking across multiple subjects.”

Ok, critical thinking sounds good.

Read further though and you find out that what that critical thinking entails is thinking exactly what the government wants kids to think.

The report notes that “One example may include pupils analysing newspaper articles in English lessons in a way that would help differentiate fabricated stories from true reporting.”

That old chestnut.

It continues, “In computer lessons, they could be taught how to spot fake news websites by their design, and maths lessons may include analysing statistics in context.”

What constitutes a ‘fake news website’ is, of course, whatever the government says it is.

‘Analysing statistics in context’ translates as analysing them in order to come to a pre determined and ‘approved’ conclusion.

They wouldn’t want those pesky statistics and facts backing up the ‘fabricated stories’, so they must be ‘placed in context’.

Respondents on X quickly highlighted how Orwellian this all is.

The plan isn’t even new, it was hatched under a so called Conservative government, but it is now being weaponised by the Labour Party.

Where have we seen this kind of thing before?

This all comes amid a backdrop of fearmongering that there are ‘far right’ hordes in the streets of every town and city about to destroy the fabric of society.

While it is true that some protests in the wake of yet another incident in which children were killed did boil over into isolated pockets of violence and vandalism, the government declaration that hundreds of separate coordinated riots by right wing groups were going to happen last week simply never materialised.

Instead, groups of leftist ‘counter protesters’ found themselves alone in the streets, with some calling for their own brand of violence.

As a consequence of all this, there is a push to police and even ban social media.

And to top it all off, people are being thrown in prison over ‘memes and spicy posts that rebel against the narrative or merely for ‘inaccurate posts’.

They are even threatening to use terrorism charges.

All of this has prompted Reform UK leader Nigel Farage to label Prime Minister Kier Starmer as the “biggest threat to free speech” in British history.

Farage told Fox News “Nobody should use any social media platform to genuinely spread hate or incitement to violence, and that free speech rule I think all of us would support and agree with.”

“But what we are allowed to do on social media, or should be allowed to do, is to speculate, is to ask questions, is to try and put facts out, to put facts out that wake up the rest of the community,” he added.

“And when you’re engaged in something like that, you can never, ever guarantee that what you say is 100 per cent true… Now Starmer, by cracking down on that, poses, I think, the biggest threat to free speech we’ve seen in our history,” Farage further urged.

He continued, “If the parameters that are set are to say to every kid, if you read a post that questions net zero and global warming, it will be extreme content, and a lie, if you read a post that even dares to question levels of immigration, legal or illegal into Britain, that that’s extremist, then you start to set a narrative for a future generation that is fundamentally undemocratic.”

“So I am very worried that the instincts of a Left-wing Labour Party are to use this crisis to take away our liberties and our free speech, and this is going to have to be fought,” Farage asserted.

  1. Future “Chancellor Mao’s revolutionary guard” these “students” will end up doing everything the same and I’d bet my life on it.

  2. Yet another good reason not to put your child into mainstream education. And to be honest, schools never teach kids the things they really should learn – unlike ‘Dadbury’ (UK).

  3. Until a week or so ago I thought the citizens of the UK still had a chance to wrest their country, culture, and heritage away from the globalist progressives who are deathly determined to eradicate everything British.
Now, however, I have re-evaluated my opinion. I do not believe that is possible now. The UK; the distinct culture and history consisting of historical Irish+Scottish+Anglo’s, is forever lost.
The United States is not far behind. It’s saving grace, however, is their Constitution’s Second Amendment and the indisputable fact that millions of its citizens have availed themselves to that most valuable part of their foundation.
Every other divinely enumerated right and liberty their Founding Fathers set forth in ink and parchment are exceedingly valuable. But the without the Second Amendment, the others are nothing more than words.

  4. If they would be taught critical thinking skills as well as how to spot misinformation–EVEN IF IT COMES FROM THEIR OWN GOVERNMENT–I would applaud the effort. As it is, their biggest source of misinformation IS their government, who, coincidentally, WILL define misinformation as anything that criticizes their government, even if it is factual.

  5. INGSOC. So to the remaining patriots in the UK and in America, how do you compromise with these Marxist sociopaths? And who is that limp beta male police commissioner threatening to charge and extradite people outside of the UK for unapproved posts? My friends in the UK, it is not coming it is here. You are screwed.

  6. In America, we must get the federal government out of our schools. Education has floundered over the past 50 years.

  7. Scary government(s). It’s also very telling that the top photograph features a white teacher and what appears to be entirely non-white students. A direct result of government deceit and shamelessness.
