New police bodycam footage has been released showing a cop being hoisted on to the roof where Thomas Matthew Crooks was preparing to try and kill Donald Trump seconds before he fired the shots.
The video, obtained by Fox News, shows the Butler Township officer’s view as he got the first glimpse of the would be killer.
The cop immediately dropped back down around 8 feet, injuring his ankle, as Crooks pointed his rifle directly at him.
The officer then sprinted away alerting other officers that there was a gunman on the roof.
The audio was initiated by the officer on the video only when he went to his car to get a weapon.
“F*cking this close, bro. Dude, he turned around on me,” the officer is heard saying in the video.
The cop eventually gets back on the roof and tells the snipers “Before you motherf*ckers came up here, I popped my head up there like an idiot by myself, dude,”
“Then he turned around and I f*cking dropped, and I started f*cking… I was calling out, ‘Bro, f*cking on top of the roof.’ F*cking, we’re not on the same frequency?” the exasperated cop is heard saying.
The remarkable footage serves as a reminder that Crooks was surrounded by police who knew he had a gun for several minutes while Trump was on stage speaking.
“I’m f—ing p—ed. We couldn’t find him,” another officer can be heard saying in the bodycam footage.
There is clearly complete confusion as an one officer says to others “I thought you were on the roof?”
“Why were we not on the roof…why weren’t we?” an officer states as they discuss telling the Secret Service days before to post people on the building.
Another says “If you’d all had a gun up there … I’d have shot him. He wouldn’t have ripped out a gun up there.”
“I’d say this is a f— up…somebody f—ed up,” another cop adds.
The Secret service snipers were not communicating on the same frequency as the local police and a scheduled meeting between them had not taken place earlier in the day.
Before any shots were fired, Crooks was literally running across the infamous sloped rooftop within view of the snipers, yet Trump was left defenceless on stage.
