Donald Trump has said that he may now feel differently about refraining from prosecuting Hillary Clinton while he was president in the wake of his conviction on 34 charges of ‘falsifying business records’.
During an interview with Fox News, Trump was asked why when he “famously said regarding Hillary Clinton, ‘Lock her up.’ You declined to do that as president.”
Trump responded, “I beat her. It’s easier when you win. And I felt – and I could have done it – but I felt it would have been a terrible thing.”
“And then this happened to me. And so, I may feel differently about it. I can’t tell you I can, I’m not sure I can answer the question,” Trump continued.
He added, “Hillary Clinton – I didn’t say ‘lock her up,’ but the people would all say, ‘lock her up, lock her up.’ Then we won… I’ve said pretty openly, I’d say, ‘alright, come on, just relax. Let’s go, we gotta make our country great.’ And it would have been, think of it, you lock up the wife of a president of the United States.”
Trump then steered the conversation away from Clinton, stating “You know, people also say, ‘Can you bring the country together?’ And the answer is yes. Success will bring the country together because I had it together. Before the China virus came in, I had it together.”
“We really had it together. And, and it would have stayed. I think it would have stayed. Everybody was, everybody was doing better. The country was doing better than it had ever done, and we’re going back to same policies and then some,” Trump further asserted.
Elsewhere during the interview, Trump said that he is prepared to accept a jail sentence if that what happens.
“I’m okay with it,” he noted, adding “I saw one of my lawyers the other day on television saying, ‘Oh no you don’t want to do that to the [president.]’ I said, ‘You don’t beg for anything. It’s just the way it is.’”
“For five years they sued me getting my tax returns,” Trump continued, adding, “At the end of five years, they got ’em. The Supreme Court actually gave it to them, that was the end of it. That was it, they never found anything. They hired the best accounting firms. I had a pure gold firm, they call it gold-rated firm, I don’t know what it’s supposed to be — who knows. But with all that, for years you heard about my tax.”
“They never looked into the Clinton foundation,” Fox co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy interjected.
“And they never found it. They never went all the way with the Clinton foundation,” Trump replied.
“They never went all the way with the Clinton foundation. Which is sort of interesting, isn’t it? So that could happen. I don’t know that the public would stand it, you know? I’m not sure the public would stand for it,” Trump noted, urging “I think it would be tough for the public to take. At a certain point there’s a breaking point.”
As we highlighted earlier, Trump has called for the Supreme Court to step in before he is sentenced in the ‘falsified business documents’ case on July 11th.

Jeff Sessions, Trump’s attorney General would never do it. At best he’d have reclused himself and gave it to Rod Rosenstein, a Trump hater, and in the end we would have gotten something similar to Comey’s BS excuse.
You know, this is the kind of BS that makes me hate supporting Trump sometimes. It’d be one thing if he just admitted he made a mistake letting her go, but instead he has to lie and pretend he never promised to lock her up in the first place – yes he did, I was there in 2016. If Alvin Bragg and Letitia James can win in NYC campaigning they will prosecute Trump if elected, Trump should make one of his platforms prosecuting Hillary, Joe, Barak, and Merrick Garland. That would bring in huge numbers of voters to his cause.
He has to go after the Clinton’s, the Biden’s, and the Obama’s. They opened the pandoras box, if he doesn’t balance out their lawfare with his own it will allow the left to get the upper hand.
