US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken told Ukrainians Tuesday that there will not be democratic elections in their country in the foreseeable future.
Blinken was speaking at Kiev Polytechnic Institute, when he noted “We’re working with the government and civil society groups to shore up Ukraine’s election infrastructure.”
“That way, as soon as Ukrainians agree that conditions allow, all Ukrainians – all Ukrainians including those displaced by Russia’s aggression – can exercise their right to vote,” he continued. “People in Ukraine and around the world can have confidence that the voting process is free, fair, and secure.”
Ukraine’s election was supposed to have happened in March but was cancelled by President Vladimir Zelensky who at the time stated “We must realise that now is the time of defence, the time of the battle that determines the fate of the state and people,” adding “I believe that now is not the right time for elections.”
Blinken is President of Ukraine now.

At this point there is little chance of Ukraine regaining territories that Russia has seized control of, begging the question is democracy just indefinitely cancelled in what remains of Ukraine?

Meanwhile, Blinken himself proved Tuesday that he’s almost as bad of a singer as he is Secretary of State by playing with a pub band in Kiev.
He made a speech about supporting fighters on the front lines, while he was drinking in the pub, and then played a shockingly bad cover of Neil Young’s ‘Rockin’ In The Free World’, because you know he represents the free world… or something, despite endorsing the cancellation of democratic elections.
