U.S. at Risk of Major Terror Attack Following Moscow Atrocity

The United States is at risk of a major terror attack following the ISIS atrocity in Moscow due to the country’s lax border security, lawmakers have warned.

139 people were killed during the assault on a Moscow concert hall, with Islamic State subsequently claiming responsibility.

Lawmakers fear the United States is next.

Rep. Mike McCaul, the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, warned that America has gone backwards and is once again at risk of a massive jihadist attack.

When asked if what happened in Moscow could be repeated in the United States, he responded, “I think so,” adding that Europe is in danger too.

“It’s sort of like we’re going back to that old playbook where history repeats itself,” explained McCaul.

“And that’s why the fall of Afghanistan, the way it was done, and the way we left it with no ISR capability, that intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, puts us in danger, where this is a new battleground training group for ISIS.”

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla. also confirmed that FBI Director Christopher Wray told him ISIS was trying to smuggle terrorists into the United States as illegal immigrants, heightening the threat of “a Moscow-style attack here.”

“They’ll do it here in the homeland,” Rubio said, adding, “I think we should be very concerned as the FBI director confirmed to me that there is a wing – there is a trafficking network out there that specializes in moving people. They do it for profit, moving people and migrants around the world, including across our southern border, who have links to ISIS.”

“I think common sense tells you, if they run a trafficking network of people, they would most certainly use it to move operatives into the United States. So, I’m not claiming there’s an imminent threat to the U.S., but I am saying that border situation and that existence of that network is a threat to the United States,” Rubio warned.

Meanwhile, Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) Director Alexander Bortnikov said earlier today that western intelligence agencies were involved in the Moscow attack.

“We believe that the attack was prepared by both the radical Islamists themselves, and naturally the Western intelligence services contributed to this, and the Ukrainian intelligence services themselves are directly involved in this,” Bortnikov said in an interview with Rossiya 1.”

He added that the goal of the attack, after which Russia claims the terrorists tried to escape back into Ukraine, was “To shake up the situation, create panic in society.”
