Joe Biden claimed Thursday that nine world leaders told him directly that he has “got to win” the election in November otherwise the world will end… or something, leading to widespread mockery on social media.
Biden told reporters that “nine heads of state” have personally warned him that their own respective democracies will be in danger “if the other guy wins.”
“As I walk out of meetings, a head of state will find an excuse to come up close … and say ‘you’ve got to win,’” Biden said, adding “Not because I’m so special. ‘You’ve got to win because my democracy is at stake if the other guy wins.’ Nine heads of state have done that with me,” Biden crowed.
He’s definitely not special. Not in the sense he means anyway.
Respondents wondered which leaders he was referring to, and if they were alive ones from now or dead ones from 30-40 years ago, given Biden keeps saying he spoke with them.
Others duly obliged with lists:
Some pointed out that the heads of state who actually want Biden to serve another term the most are the ones who dislike America.
Others noted that if Biden doesn’t win, these heads of state will be left having to look after their own countries for a change.
Nine is pretty weak sauce for a brag though.
