“This Movie Looks Like A Social Experiment”: New ‘Civil War’ Trailer Plays On Real Tensions

“I’m sure everyone will act reasonably towards this film”

A new trailer for the highly anticipated movie ‘Civil War’ is going viral with respondents noting that elements of the plot could happen in reality.

Directed by Alex Garland, the movie is set in the modern day where a second civil war breaks out between the United States government and a coalition of states that have seceded.

There is a ‘Florida Alliance’ made up of southern states and the ‘Western Forces,’ consisting of Texas and… California, somehow.

Details of the storyline are scant, but the previews are masterfully playing off real life tensions in the US.

It looks as if the break away states with their “illegal secessionist governments” are going to be portrayed as the ‘bad guys’.

Some respondents noted that the movie is potentially close to the bone, with some believing it is some sort of ‘predictive programming’:
