Republicans in Congress have blasted the latest so called ‘bipartisan’ deal on border policy legislation, noting that it allocates nothing for a border wall, yet gives Ukraine another $60 billion.
The 370-page bill, titled the Emergency National Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024 was released Sunday night, with GOP Reps and Senators already labelling it an ‘open border bill’.
Senator Rand Paul declare the legislation “anti-American,” and noted that the extra $60 billion has been allocated for Ukraine despite a report just last week detailing how corrupt officials there embezzeled $40 million in just one incident that was uncovered.
Republican Rep. Steve Scalise of Louisiana declared that the Senate legislation, which also includes $14 billion in aid for Israel, would be dead on arrival.
“Here’s what the people pushing this ‘deal’ aren’t telling you: It accepts 5,000 illegal immigrants a day and gives automatic work permits to asylum recipients—a magnet for more illegal immigration,” Scalise proclaimed.
Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik added “This Joe Biden/Chuck Schumer Open Border Bill is an absolute non-starter and will further incentivize thousands of illegals to pour in across our borders daily,” adding that Republicans already passed HR2 – the Secure Our Border Act, which would be much more effective at curbing illegal border crossings.
Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida warned that if this legislation passes and Trump wins in November, he won’t be able to do anything about the overrun border:
Rep. Eli Crane called the bill “spineless” and urged that it “legitimises an invasion”:
Kari Lake charged that Independent (former Democrat) Senator Kyrsten Sinema, a co-sponsor of the legislation, should run for office in Ukraine given that her priorities seem to lay there.
“And each year the Schumer-Sinema Border Bill legalizes nearly 2 million invaders who have breached our border during the Bidenvasion,” Lake added in a follow-up also noting “This Bill is DOA. We the People will not sit idly by as crooked politicians make permanent these dangerous/deadly open borders.”
Rep. Michael Cloud called the bill “absurd” for focusing on Ukraine more than the southern border.
Others noted that there are likely other hidden provisions that need to be discovered because the bill is 370 pages long and no one has read it all yet, despite a vote being scheduled this week.
The usual candidates want Americans to believe the legislation is the way forward:

I have to wonder at the timing. There must be something in it to keep President Trump from acting in way they don’t want, when he’s back in office.
