Following the announcement that Joe Biden will finally visit East Palestine, Ohio a full year after the toxic derailment disaster, a reporter took the opportunity to ask if he will drink the water that millions of Americans have had to drink and bathe in since the chemical contamination.
“Next month, when the president is in East Palestine, will he drink the water there?” a reporter asked White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
Jean-Pierre responded “You know, this is not about some sort of, like, political stunt here. This is not about — this is not with this is about. This is about this president being a president for everyone and showing up, showing up for this community. That’s what this is about.”
“I’m not going to get into some sort of political stunts about drinking — about drinking water,” she added.
That begs the question, why hasn’t he shown up for a year?
Jean-Pierre couldn’t provide an answer:
Jean-Pierre further claimed Biden has been there for the community since day one.
That’s not what the community is saying, as East Palestine resident Dr. Rick Tsai explained yesterday, noting that Biden “should have been here right when this happened, just like President Trump.”
Tsai added, “I think he has to come because he’s stuck between a rock and a hard place, and we don’t appreciate that type of attitude. We haven’t got one penny or one single bottle of water from the federal government. They have put the entity [Norfolk Southern] in charge of causing the accident in charge of the cleanup.”
The Mayor of East Palestine noted that he has had to basically keep hassling Biden to show up, and didn’t have to ask President Trump, who visited within days of the disaster.
Biden is so far gone cognitively now anyway, that he may as well drink a cool tall glass of chemical water for the cameras.
It would be a nice callback to when Obama made a dog and pony show of it in Flint, taking the tiniest of sips imaginable and telling everyone the water was perfectly fine:
