A new survey shows that nearly half of potential jurors in Washington, D.C. think the death penalty or life in prison would be a “fair punishment” for J6ers.
Yes, really.
The poll was conducted by Triton Polling and Research earlier this month and the results were obtained exclusively by The Epoch Times.
“After informing survey participants that “the penalty for insurrection, treason, or committing an act of domestic terrorism is life imprisonment or death,” 26.9 percent said they “strongly agree” and 21.1 percent said they “somewhat agree” that those penalties would “be a fair punishment for anyone who participated in any of the events of January 6,” reports the news outlet.
The poll exemplifies why so many J6 defendants have been trying to get their trials moved to somewhere other than the District of Columbia.
Government prosecutors have repeatedly claimed that there is no evidence to prove they won’t get a fair trial in D.C.
The poll also reveals other clear examples of bias among potential jurors.
The overwhelming majority, 89.4 per cent, either “strongly” or “somewhat” agree that President Trump was to blame for the riot, despite him repeatedly telling the demonstrators to be peaceful and go home.
76.6 per cent also “strongly agree” that Mr. Trump’s supporters are racists, meaning over three quarters have fully bought in to the media’s vilification campaign.
63.6 per cent say they “strongly agree” that January 6 was an “act of terrorism,” despite nobody apart from Trump supporters being killed on the day.
“Of the 422 “jury eligible residents” surveyed, 27.5 percent describe Jan. 6 protestors as “insurrectionists.” Others describe them as “criminals” (13 percent), “domestic terrorists” (14.9 percent), or “traitors” (11.6 percent),” reports the Epoch Times.
Showing how bias the potential jurors are in comparison to most Americans, a Rasmussen survey conducted in 2021 showed that half of Americans agreed with the statement that J6ers were “political prisoners”.
“Though most of the GOP have been dragged by their base to now be supportive of J6ers, that poll was taken at a time when the GOP establishment was calling them all “evil” and demanding they “rot in prison,” writes Chris Menahan.
