Five Swedish police officers have been ordered to pay fines to a Syrian migrant who attacked them and was sent to prison for severely injuring an officer during violent Islamist riots in the country two years ago.
Remix News reports “The officers will have to pay out a total of 12,650 Swedish crowns (€1,122) from their own pockets to the 45-year-old convicted Syrian who has been sentenced to two years and seven months for his role in the riots.”
The 45 year old migrant was charged with “gross sabotage against police operations,” after throwing stones and other projectiles that led to one of the police officers involved being hospitalised with a severe concussion and hand injuries.
The report further explains how the police officer, Johan Westberg, and four of his colleagues brought a civil case against the migrant to seek damages, but the case was shot down by the Swedish Supreme Court, and the officers are now required to pay the legal fees of the migrant who attacked them.
“I don’t intend to pay a penny. Then, they better foreclose on me. This is so wrong, I was in Sveaparken as a service (provider), it was not optional to work,” said Westberg.
“It feels like something has gone terribly wrong in the legal system here. We are there and doing our job, yet individual police officers must be forced to pay out of their own pockets to people who really wanted us dead,” commented Aleksandar Jeremic, one of the other police officers involved told Danish newspaper Dagens Nyheter.
The judge in the case, Johan Nordgren, remarked “I understand if it appears offensive from the police’s point of view. But there is no mistake that has been made, the rules are as they are. The issue of damages was separated into a civil case, and the police withdrew their claims, so they are considered the losing party and must pay.”
The officers are appealing the case.
It was widely reported that the riots were sparked by right wing rallies, with activist Rasmus Paluden burning a Quran in Sweden over the Easter weekend of 2022, triggering the large Islamic population to react violently. However, further analysis suggested the riots specifically targeted police and were the work of “criminal gangs,” a common euphemism for Muslim migrant youths.
Following the riots, left-wing Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson admitted that Sweden’s failure to properly integrate large numbers of migrants has led to the creation of parallel societies and gang violence.

Sadly, the path out of horrendous situations like the one western and northern Europe finds itself in is paved with corpses and slick with cruor; these migrants should not be here, and they cannot be “integrated” (whatever that means this week…)- how many more people must suffer and even die before this sets in for our governments?
