Joe Biden’s cognitive decline was on full display again Monday as he made gaffe after gaffe and struggled to read and verbalise sentences, at one point referring to Democratic Rep. Jahana Hayes as “Jonah” six times.
Biden and his handlers were honoring the Council of Chief State School Officers’ 2023 Teachers of the Year, so someone had written it into Biden’s speech to call on Hayes, who won the Teacher of the Year award in 2016.
Here’s what happened:
Her name, Jahana, is pronounced Juh-han-uh. Jonah isn’t even close, and it’s a man’s name. And her surname isn’t ‘Hayzes’.
Embarrassing.
At least she is alive though, unlike when Biden called on a deceased representative last year.
At another point in the speech Biden said he could name a teacher who once believed in him, but then forgot to name the teacher:
Elsewhere, Biden struggled to form sentences like this one:
When he is coherent he comes out with weird stuff like “There’s no such thing as someone else’s child. No such thing as someone else’s child. Our nation’s children are all our children.”
As we highlighted yesterday, with Biden expected to announce his campaign as soon as this week, there is little enthusiasm to see the 80-year-old grace the national stage again after years of verbal gaffes and odd behavior.
Polls indicate that only fewer than half of Democrats say Biden should attempt to win a second term in office, with most saying it’s time to put him out to pasture.
