An Australian Senator has called for X owner Elon Musk to be jailed for life for refusing to adhere to the Australian government’s demands to remove a video of the brutal attack on a Christian Bishop in Sydney last week by an apparent Muslim extremist.
After Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel was attacked at his church in Sydney, the video taken from a live stream quickly went viral on X.
Australian officials, and politicians from both sides of the spectrum immediately called for the footage to be removed, yet Elon Musk has refused to do so, saying that X is a platform for freedom of expression and it will not censor content that is not illegal.
Australia’s so called ‘eSafety Commissioner’ Julie Inman-Grant, an unelected official, has ordered both X and Meta to remove footage of the stabbing under the Online Safety Act, passed in 2021, which empowers the eSafety department to demand the removal of so-called ‘class 1 material’.
X was ordered by the Australian Federal Court on Monday to block all users from viewing the footage.
The platform temporarily complied with the order in Australia while taking out a two-day injunction, but asserted that a global takedown order violates freedom of speech.
“We have already censored the content in question for Australia, pending legal appeal, and it is stored only on servers in the USA,” Musk noted in an X post, warning that complying with government demands to ban content is a slippery slope.
In comments to Sky News, Independent Australian Senator Jacqui Lambie charged that Musk is “creating hatred” by ignoring requests to remove “harmful content.”
“I think he’s a social media knob with no social conscience, he has absolutely no social conscience,” she said.
“Someone like that should be in jail and the key be thrown away. That bloke should not have a right to be out there on his own ideology platform and creating hatred, showing all this stuff out there to our kids and doing all the rest,” Lambie added.
The Senator for Tasmania also declared she would be boycotting X, proclaiming “I’ll be switching off X today, I’ll be doing that before I get to the airport this afternoon, and I suggest that the other 226, there’s 227 members of Parliament, do the same thing. Show him that you mean business.”
Musk responded to the unhinged rant, noting “This woman has utter contempt for the Australian people,” and later adding “She is an enemy of the people of Australia.”
Musk has also been targeted by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese who has charged that Musk “thinks he’s above the Australian law, that he’s above common decency.”
Albanese further asserted that Musk “is so out of touch with what the Australian public want. This has been a distressing time and I find this bloke on the other side of the world, from his billionaires’ establishments trying to lecture Australians on free speech – well I won’t cop it and Australians won’t either.”
Seems like Albanese is the one out of touch, given that as a result of the attacks on Musk and X, the platform has become the number one news app in Australia.

Meanwhile, Bishop Emmanuel is recovering from the attack and says he has forgiven his attacker, calling for his supporters not to retaliate over the attack but to behave “Christlike.”
Did anyone ask him for his opinion on whether people should be allowed to see the footage?

Jacqui Lambie is full of spirit and even heart, but she is not noted for her intellect. Musk can be confounding but he’s basically factually correct here, it cannot be granted to a given government to ban politically controversial yet arguably legitimate content for the whole world, it would be a power of censorship that would be vast, and liable to massive abuse, even if in some cases there were a justifiable case for it. If Musk and his kind/class should be locked up, it should be for disgusting squandering of their egregious wealth on second or third-rate projects at best, whilst not doing/funding the sort of things that really matter most, like actually preventing global destruction, instead of just building spaceships for a privileged elite to (at least in theory) escape it in while the rest of us burn in the hell on earth they have brought about. Personally I live in conditions little better than a prison cell (or even worse in some ways), yet have managed amongst other things to reinterpret key aspects of eg Quantum Physics, with major global (and beyond) security and stability implications, but at this rate I may be dead from poverty before it ever sees the light of day, whilst mega-rich morons fill the world with inane and obscene garbage on industrial scales, including their own foul and all too often wasted breath. James, if you’re the genius you claim to be, you should have no problem finding someone to fund further development of your discovery. As to Musk and others, whom you think should use their wealth for things that benefit mankind, I say just the opposite. Musk and the others earned their wealth and they’re the ones who should determine how, or even if, to use their wealth.
If only things were so simple. I have minimal interest or energy for ‘finding someone to fund further development of {my} discovery’ (actually discoveries), (very few have the intelligence or integrity to go beyond the current imbecile and infernal paradigm anyway – especially hereabouts), from the position I am in, above all given my increasing loathing for this evil and insane world and how it corruptly functions, I have interest and energy only for pure knowledge (and the good it can bring) pretty much, but am forced to operate on a basis that cuts the efficiency of my efforts by something like 90+%, as well as making ‘life’ here increasingly a living (and maybe dying) nightmare. Seriously if anyone with real money wants access to any of it (far more than I have mentioned here – including eg the only way to actually settle the ME problems amongst so amny others), then they can pay, without bullshit of any sort, they have plenty to spare, it has been advertised adequately elsewhere, and vast sums are wasted on real garbage daily, and this can be organized by others largely, otherwise, you get just more of the same, which won’t end well, without any doubt. I am way beyond scroungeing for driblets, very very tired, pissed off, and disgusted, I’d rather leave this shitty little rock to its moronic and genocidal/suicidal imbecilities, a disgrace to the word ‘world’, soon likely to be purged ‘clean’, it doesn’t have long left for any sort of even half-decent life anyway. Once upon a time things were at least somewhat different, now those with wealth rather than seriously funding things like good, life, and truth, are obsessed with funding things that undermine and will inexorably ruin all three and more, the system is set up for it in fact. Damn it to hell if it does not make serious provision soon for better alternatives, and not just the lame stuff that passes for it generally, and makes no real difference. I can make a key difference there (though many valuable years have been sadly lost), but it’s for others to put up the starter capital, it’s not my thing, and they will not benefit while I and others suffer horribly, in good part due to the mega-corrupt system they benefit from. And many did not earn their wealth anyway, in any decent sense, but got it via things like corruption, exploitation, inheritance, luck, organized theft, murder, etc. Nor am I willing to be ripped off by scum of any sort, as has happened before, in smaller matters, either adequate funding is supplied up-front based on the vast range of positive possibilities, as well as survival-critical necessities, or all can suffer the consequences, which won’t be pleasant, even for those with (material) wealth. That’s it, take it or leave it, whoever. I am past giving a shit otherwise, and in far too parlous a position to do more like this than get through the day, apart from practically nonstop inventive thinking, way beyond anything Musk has shown evidence of, for example. But I have no energy or even ability for business like him, it bores me to death frankly, especially anymore. I am too busy pondering and penetrating other dimensions and such things, in between struggling not to die each day in the disaster bequeathed me by the traitors that have been running things into the ground for decades now.
I almost died recently btw, for real, due to the conditions here, and am still weakened, what might have been lost of real worth is far more than the entire class of ‘Musks’ has so far shown evidence of or inclination/inspiration to provide in a thousand years. That’s not even counting technology as usually conceived.
And lastly, given the evidence of spending patterns and general conditions, what makes you think that I would not have massive problems finding someone to decently fund further development of my discoveries? (As opposed to some reptilo-satanic scumbags trying to score some advantage for free or near enough). Get real! Take a look at the world and despair, evil thrives, while good withers and fades. I for one am just about done with the lot, and welcoming its annihilation, as a chastisement of the wicked, and mercy to their victims, ie most of humanity, let alone the other creatures. Another ‘thing’ is the only way to effectively deal with the energy/climate problems, along with WMD, world conflict (even WW3), some (other) looming ‘natural’ catastrophes, and a bunch else of apparently minor matters compared to the latest ‘reality goss’ etc.
