President Donald Trump says he has paused strikes on Iran, claiming to have had significant direct communications with Iranian figures amid the ongoing military escalation, describing the exchanges as productive, yet Israel appears to be continuing airstrikes at the same time.
Trump framed the talks as a potential path to de-escalation through verifiable compliance rather than prolonged conflict, and characterized the negotiations positively during recent comments.
“We have had very, very strong talks,” he said. “We’ll see where they lead. We have major points of agreement… They went, I would say perfectly.”

Addressing Iranian denials broadcast on Iranian state television, Trump responded, “Well, they’re going to have to get themselves better public relations people!”

Trump then detailed the non-negotiable U.S. conditions:
- “No nuclear bomb, no nuclear weapon, ‘not even close to it.'”
- “‘Low key’ on the missiles.”
- “Peace in the Middle East.”
- “We want the nuclear dust.”
- “No enrichment.”
- “We want the enriched uranium.”

“If this happens, it’s a great start for Iran to build itself back. And it’s everything that we want,” Trump stated, adding “And it’s also great for Israel and it’s great for the other Middle Eastern countries, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, all of them, Kuwait and Bahrain in particular.”
On the identity of his counterpart, Trump remained guarded.
“We’re dealing with the man who, I believe, is the most respected and the ‘leader.’ It’s a little tough — we’ve wiped out everybody.”
When pressed if this was the Supreme Leader, he said, “No.”

He explained the secrecy. “Because I don’t want them to be killed. OK? I don’t want them to be killed. Nobody wants that job right now, you know? Nobody’s exactly looking forward to be the head of that particular country, but perhaps we’ll be able to solve that problem.”

Trump claimed to be coordinating with Israel, stating “We just spoke with Israel,” adding that Israel “will be very happy with what we have on Iran.”
However, Israel announced fresh strikes on Iranian targets in the Tehran area.

The comments arrive in a fluid conflict environment. Recent U.S. and Israeli strikes have targeted Iranian nuclear sites and leadership, including facilities like Natanz, amid negotiations that stalled earlier but saw renewed contact. Trump previously delayed certain strikes to permit diplomatic progress, reflecting a strategy of combining pressure with openings for resolution.
The approach emphasizes concrete outcomes—eliminating enrichment capabilities, securing enriched uranium stockpiles, and curbing missile programs—while steering clear of indefinite military commitments.
