A Real MIRACLE?

Arizona child revives hours after being declared dead in drowning ordeal

In an extraordinary event many are suggesting points to the power of something greater, a child in Gilbert, Arizona, has stunned doctors by coming back to life more than five hours after being pronounced dead following a backyard pool drowning.

Defying the grim finality handed down by hospital staff, the child is now expected to survive.

The incident unfolded during Super Bowl weekend, when first responders rushed to a home near East Chandler Heights and South Higley roads in Gilbert after reports of a child found unresponsive in a backyard pool.

Gilbert police and fire officials arrived at 5:35 p.m. on February 8, immediately administering life-saving measures before transporting the child to a nearby hospital.

Medical staff continued efforts, but at 6:20 p.m., the child was declared dead. Yet, just before 11:30 p.m., signs of life emerged, prompting an airlift to another Valley hospital for advanced care.

According to Gilbert Police Department, the child is now on the path to recovery, with an ongoing investigation into the circumstances.

This isn’t the first time Arizona has witnessed such a breathtaking reversal. Back in February 2016, a toddler was pulled from a pool after submerging for over five minutes. First responders rushed her to the hospital, where medical teams battled for more than 90 minutes with CPR and other interventions before pronouncing her dead.

Then, nearly an hour later, the impossible happened—the toddler coughed, signaling a return to life. She went on to make a full recovery, baffling experts who deemed it medically unexplainable.

As her mother reflected in accounts of the event, “She was found floating and lifeless and it was the most horrific day of my life as well as the most amazing day of my life.”

The child, identified as Ja in reports, now thrives, with her family celebrating her “rebirth day” annually.

Ja’s mother shared how the girl proudly tells others, “She goes around and tells people that she’s a miracle…and I tell them that they’re all a part of our miracle.”

While these miracles inspire, they also spotlight the harsh realities of child drownings in Arizona, a state where backyard pools are commonplace amid scorching summers.

Authorities stress vigilance, but these revivals serve as a wake-up call against complacency in a society where distractions and eroded family structures can lead to preventable tragedies.
