Hegseth TORCHES Fake News Media: NO FOREVER WAR In Iran, No Quagmire

“Our generation knows better, and so does this president!”

As U.S. and Israeli forces pummel Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure in Operation Epic Fury, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth fired back at media attempts to frame the conflict as another endless entanglement, stressing a clear, mission to eliminate threats without the baggage of past nation-building failures.

Hegseth’s pointed remarks align with Vice President JD Vance’s recent assurances that the operation won’t drag into a prolonged quagmire, marking a sharp break from the globalist policies that drained American blood and treasure in prior Middle East interventions.

In his press conference, Hegseth emphasized the operation’s focused objectives, urging “Stop. This is not Iraq, this is not endless. I was there for both. Our generation knows better, and so does this president! He called the last 20 years of nation-building wars dumb. And he’s right.”

“This is the opposite,” Hegseth continued, adding “This operation is a clear devastating decisive mission. Destroy the missile threat, destroy the navy, NO NUKES.”

These comments reinforce the administration’s stance against repeating the errors of Iraq and Afghanistan, where vague goals led to drawn-out occupations.

Hegseth addressed regime dynamics head-on, clarifying the mission’s scope while noting the strikes’ impact.

“This is NOT a so-called ‘regime change war.’ But the regime? Sure did change! And the world is better off for it!” he said in another clip.

He followed up with a stark assessment of Iran’s fate: “It turns out, the regime who chanted ‘death to America’ and ‘death to Israel’ — was gifted death FROM America, and death FROM Israel.”

The strikes have already decapitated key regime figures, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, without committing U.S. forces to rebuilding efforts.

Pushing back on questions about duration, Hegseth refused to tip the administration’s hand.

“WE WILL FINISH THIS. On America First conditions of President Trump’s choosing. Nobody else’s. As it should be,” he declared in a video clip.

He added, “We are not defenders anymore. We are warriors. Trained to kill the enemy and break their will. History is watching.”

When pressed on potential length, Hegseth shut down a reporter: “Did you NOT hear my remarks? We’re ENSURING the mission is accomplished. The president is clear-eyed, UNLIKE other presidents! Who recklessly pulled us in without clear objectives.”

“We would NEVER lay out how long this may take in front of the press. The mission for our warfighters is VERY clear, and they’re executing it right now VIOLENTLY,” he added.

Hegseth called out media tactics directly, referencing Trump’s flexible approach.

“The question about 4 weeks, typical NBC GOTCHA question. Trump can talk about how long it may or may not take. 4 weeks, 2 weeks, 6 weeks…Biden didn’t even know WHAT he was doing,” Hegseth stated, adding “Trump can look for opportunities, offramps and escalations — to create new opportunities to execute what we need on our OWN timeline.”

“You can play games about 4 weeks, 5 weeks — he has all the latitude, and I’m glad he does!” he further stressed.

Hegseth vowed there would be “no stupid rules of engagement, no nation building quagmire, no democracy-building exercise, no politically correct wars,” urging “We fight to win and we don’t waste time or lives.”

He reiterated Iran’s dangers: “Iran’s stubborn and self-evident nuclear pursuits, their targeting of global shipping lanes and their swelling arsenals of ballistic missiles and killer drones were no longer tolerable risks. Iran was building powerful missiles and drones to create a conventional shield for their nuclear ambitions.”

“Our bases, our allies, our people all in their crosshairs. Iran had a conventional gun to our head as they tried to lie their way to a nuclear bomb. It almost worked under Obama and his terrible deal but not under this president,” Hegseth added.

Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine backed this, describing the operation as the “culmination of months and in some cases years of deliberate planning and refinement against this particular target set.”

“Across every domain: land, air, sea, cyber, the U.S. joint force delivered synchronized and layered effects designed to disrupt, degrade, deny, and destroy Iran’s ability to conduct and sustain combat operations,” Caine further stated.

These statements tie directly to Vice President Vance’s earlier dismissal of endless war concerns, where he said, “The idea that we’re going to be in a Middle Eastern war for years with no end in sight – there is no chance that will happen.”

Vance, drawing from his Marine experience, criticized past neoconservative policies and emphasized targeted results: “I think we all prefer the diplomatic option,” but it hinges on Iran’s response.
