In a bizarre display of political obsession, a man spent months training crows to snatch red hats off people’s heads—explicitly targeting the iconic MAGA caps worn by Trump supporters. The twisted project highlights the lengths some radicals will go to harass Americans exercising their freedoms.
The individual, going by “biz_dave” on Threads, documented his scheme online. He started by luring a group of crows—known as a murder, fittingly—to a feeding station with peanuts, chicken scraps, mealworms, and dog kibble. It took four months to get the birds showing up regularly.
Once hooked, he shifted to conditioning them against red hats. By placing treats under MAGA-style caps, he trained the crows to associate the hats with food, leading them to peck and pull them off to get at the rewards. Another three months of this reinforcement turned the feathered fiends into hat thieves.

The guy pathetically framed his antics as some noble stand, declaring, “I tried to be centrist for a long time but I no longer believe that is a moral option.” He added a sinister twist: “Some folks want to befriend crows, or get them to bring trinkets. I have… other goals.”
Videos posted by the creep to Threads, yes someone is still on there, show the crows swooping in and yanking off the red hats, one even cawing triumphantly before striking. The weirdo boasted about discovering “new and interesting behaviors from these amazing creatures.”

However, even other leftists found the crow caper derisible, with some pointing out the cruelty, and one Reddit user warning, “OK, so I love this for the people wearing those red hats, but this would absolutely not be good for the crows.” Another called it pulling “wild animals into stupid human shit.”
Despite the hype among anti-Trump crowds on leftist social media, where admirers hailed it as an “anti-MAGA flying army,” there’s no confirmed reports of real-world attacks. When asked, “Do we know if they have taken anyone’s hat yet?” biz_dave admitted, “Nothing confirmed. Anxious for reports.”
