Watch: Schmitt Scorches “War Machine” For Sabotaging Trump’s Ukraine Peace Plan

‘Fantasy world hawks wrong for 30 years’

Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) unleashed a blistering takedown of the “war machine and military industrial complex” Sunday on Fox News, accusing them of scheming to “sink President Trump’s Russia-Ukraine war peace plan” amid “huge progress” reported by Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Geneva.

Schmitt’s fury spotlights the deep-state divide as Trump eyes a U.S. summit with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky this week to ram through his 28-point blueprint by Thanksgiving weekend, per CBS News sources.

Success here would thwart Eurocrats’ sabotage plots, with leaders like UK PM Keir Starmer and EU chief Ursula von der Leyen huddled in Johannesburg to derail the deal, in a repeat of 2022’s Istanbul peace deal betrayal.

Schmitt pulled no punches, urging “They live in this fantasy world that another round of sanctions or another round of weapons or another round of cash is going to solve the problem, and it won’t!”

He slammed the establishment, stressing that “The Washington consensus has been so wrong about this, for so long, and they’ve been wrong about a lot of things over the last 30 years.”

“President Trump approaches this as a realist. You take the world as it is, not how you want it to be, not how you wish it would be, but actually how it is,” Schmitt added.

Exposing Ukraine’s dire straits, he said “A lot of people won’t say it, the Ukrainians have been losing for a long time. They’ve lost 20% of their territory. They have a manpower problem. They have a munitions problem.”

“I think what President Trump is trying to accomplish is maintain Ukrainian sovereignty, make sure there’s a pathway to rebuild the country, and also lessen the likelihood that this will ever happen again,” Schmitt continued.

He further noted, “And so they put forward a proposal, a framework, Secretary of State Rubio, the Secretary of the Army Driscoll, they’re all in Geneva right now working with the Ukrainians, working with the Europeans to try to get to some consensus here on the 28 points.”

“I would say that most of those, at least half of those, have been talked about for a long time and there’s a lot of agreement, Schmitt emphasised, adding “So you’ve to narrow the gap now and try to get to a place where you recognize the realities on the ground.”

Schmitt’s indictment underscores the sabotage saga. While Putin nods approval—calling the plan a “basis for final peace,” Euro hawks like Starmer and von der Leyen cling to escalation, risking WWIII over Trump’s deal-making success.

Rubio, leading the charge, has heralded the momentum.

Flanked by Driscoll, Rubio’s team is bridging gaps on the framework—ceding territory, capping Kyiv’s military, and ditching NATO bids for sovereignty guarantees.

CBS reports “U.S. and Ukrainian officials are discussing bringing Zelenskyy to the U.S. as part of President Trump’s push to get an agreement on Ukraine by Thanksgiving,” framing it as a high-wire bid to “get the peace deal moving and done.”

Zelensky, decrying the plan as a “stark choice” between sovereignty and aid, has envoys in Switzerland, but a White House face-off could bulldoze Euro resistance, per Reuters.

Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) has also blasted the EU’s counter-proposals, describing demands for NATO-style U.S. protections for Ukraine as “crazy, suicidal, escalatory” and a potential WWIII trigger.

“It’s time to get out of this mess. It’s time to leave NATO,” Lee declared.
