English Councils Say Cost Of REMOVING English Flags Is “Money Well Spent”

Admit to spending TENS OF THOUSANDS On taking down St George’s Crosses and Union Jacks

Local councils in England have admitted spending tens of thousands of pounds to take down “unauthorised” English and Union Jack flags put up on lampposts by citizens protesting mass illegal immigration.

Figures gleaned from Freedom of Information requests sent to 380 local authorities across the country show that councils have spent at least £70,000 just to take down Union Jack and St. George’s flags placed on street fixtures with cable ties.

The FoI requests came courtesy of a leftist political activist Pablo O’Hana, who prompted backlash earlier in the year after he filmed himself removing  flags from a bridge in Manchester.

O’Hana told a man who had placed the flags that he took them down because “that’s not what our country is”.

O’Hana told reporters that realcost of removing the flags is undoubtedly much higher than £70,000, noting that many councils have not reported any spending in relation to flag removal, likely just incorporating the costs into existing budgets.

Several councils have claimed that flags have been removed owing to safety concerns, yet some have admitted that political motivations are behind the decision.

Medway Council has admitted spending close to £11,600 on removing over 700 flags from its streets.

Leftist Labour Party councillor Alex Paterson, who oversees community safety for Medway, called it “money well spent” in order to combat the actions of “far-right agitators”.

Paterson added that purging the streets of the British and English flags was necessary to “make the community feel safe again”.

“I think at this stage the world is divided into people who know exactly why these flags were put up and those who are still pretending they don’t know why they were put up,” he said in comments to the BBC.

While leftist councils pour money into removing flags, others such as Reform controlled Nottinghamshire council, have vowed to spend money on putting more flags up.

Nottinghamshire has reportedly budgeted £75,000 to erect 164 Union Jack banners in aluminium frames across 82 locations throughout the county’s seven districts.

Reform council leader Mick Barton commented that the measure will “strengthen community spirit and cohesion” and be covered by funds recouped from axed government programs deemed to be wasteful.

Barton has defended the expenditure as a “long-term venture,” emphasizing that the frames will last 10-15 years and serve multiple purposes beyond the Union Jack, including banners for Remembrance Day, Armistice Day, Nottinghamshire Day, Easter, Christmas, fostering recruitment campaigns, and promoting the county’s new strategic plan.

He noted that the funding comes from internal savings without impacting core services like pothole repairs or social care, countering claims of wastefulness.

Conservatives, including opposition leader Councillor Sam Smith, expressed mixed views—appreciating the symbolism but deeming the £457 per installation (including setup) “ridiculous” and suggesting it should rely on private donations instead.

The grassroots flag campaign, dubbed ‘Operation Raise The Colours’ came in response to unrest prompted by several reports of sexual offences committed against women and young girls by illegal immigrants being housed in hotels at taxpayer expense.
