President Donald Trump tore into his predecessor Thursday, blasting him as a “criminal” following new revelations about the Biden administration’s “Arctic Frost” investigation into Trump World
Although Trump did not mention former President Joe Biden by name, he appeared to reference him while sharing a Just the News report about the Biden-era probe into him and his allies for their involvement in the Jan. 6 riot. Former prosecutors and FBI agents told the outlet that the FBI memo authorizing the Arctic Frost investigation was based on thin evidence and weak justification.
“He is a CRIMINAL AND SHOULD BE IN JAIL. A MAJOR LOWLIFE AND FAILURE,” the president posted on his Truth Social platform Thursday morning. “An ugly person, both inside and out! I beat him badly, and love watching him squirm now.”
The probe reportedly started under former FBI Director Chris Wray and was later continued by former Special Counsel Jack Smith under Attorney General Merrick Garland.
Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley on Wednesday released 197 subpoenas issued by Smith’s team as part of the 2020 election interference case, which Grassley said reveal an effort to “investigate the entire Republican political apparatus.” Subpoenas named at least 430 Republican entities and individuals, seeking testimony, documents, and communication records, according to Grassley’s office.
Grassley previously disclosed that cell phone records from nine Republican members of Congress had been subpoenaed as part of Smith’s investigation. On Wednesday, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas called for the impeachment of federal judge James Boasberg after it was revealed that Boasberg signed an order barring AT&T from notifying Cruz about the subpoena for his phone records that was issued as part of the investigation.
“Arctic Frost was the vehicle by which partisan FBI agents and DOJ prosecutors could improperly investigate the entire Republican political apparatus,” Grassley said during a press conference on Wednesday. “Contrary to what Smith has said publicly, this was clearly a fishing expedition.”
Trump on Wednesday called on those involved in the Arctic Frost investigation to be “put in prison,” describing them as a “disgrace to humanity” and labeling Smith a “criminal.”
