During a diplomatic trip to Malaysia Sunday, President Trump signed one of the multiple peace agreements that he has had a major hand in brokering, and declared that he’s doing work the UN should be carrying out.
Trump signed on to the accord between Thailand and Cambodia, and in comments to reporters noted “I won’t forget that day because it was one of the first wars that I got involved in. And I love doing it. I shouldn’t say it’s a hobby—because it’s so much more serious than a hobby—but it’s something that I’m good at and something that I love to do.”
He continued, “The United Nations should be doing this, but they don’t. They turned off my teleprompter when I made a speech. I had to make a speech without a teleprompter. They’re good at that. The escalator wasn’t working too well; it came to a complete halt.”

“But the United Nations has such great potential. I wish they could do it. They didn’t get involved with us at all. We just did the deal and reported the deal, and everybody was sort of amazed that we got it done so quickly and so nicely,” Trump further declared.
The President then introduced Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, urging “these are—incredible men. The way they came together, the way they worked so hard. We worked long hours. It was not long days—because the days were few in number—but the hours were very long and very intense.”
“There was a lot of intensity because there was a lot of shooting happening while we were talking. That brings it to a new level,” Trump stressed.
“The three men sitting there should really be credited with having done an incredible job for humanity. Thank you all very much. It’s an honor to have worked with you. Appreciate it, please,” Trump concluded.
Longer version with more context below:
As we have previously highlighted, Trump has positioned himself as a formidable force for global peace, earning the moniker “peacemaker-in-chief” through his strategic brokering of multiple ceasefires and peace agreements across volatile regions.
Not only this, but Trump has leveraged US economic and military influence to de-escalate conflicts, often tying these diplomatic triumphs to substantial trade deals that bolster American prosperity.
Add to that the fact that in his first term, Trump achieved the Abraham Accords, a diplomatic normalising relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco. This effectively ended decades of hostility and enabled the countries to move beyond a geopolitical stalemate that had existed since Israel’s founding in 1948.
His administration’s focus on reducing trade deficits and securing lucrative economic agreements underscores a dual commitment to peace and US economic interests, reshaping global perceptions of American leadership.
