President Trump is preparing to announce the relocation of the U.S. Space Command headquarters from Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Huntsville, Alabama.

Watch Live:

According to the Department of Defense, the announcement is scheduled for mid-afternoon.

The Defense Department’s DVIDS website states that President Trump is scheduled to make a major announcement today at around 1:50 p.m. EST. While details remain scarce, a Reuters report indicates the announcement will concern relocating Space Command from Colorado Springs to Huntsville.

As of 11:45 p.m. EST…

Reuters noted, “The decision would reverse a move made under former President Joe Biden’s administration, which had selected Colorado Springs as the permanent home for the military’s newest combatant command in 2023,” adding, “Trump has often linked federal funding decisions and politics.”

Huntsville appears to be the better fit, given its nickname is “Rocket City” because it’s home to NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, where the Saturn V rocket for the Apollo program was developed. Defense contractors such as Lockheed Martin, Boeing, L3Harris, and Northrop Grumman all have significant operations in the area.
