More crime statistics are showcasing just how prevalent foreigners are in crimes against sexual determination in German swimming pools, this time from North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany’s largest state by population.

The data from 2024 shows that 65 percent of all sexual offenses were committed by foreigners, while German citizens committed 35 percent of such crimes. However, the migration background of those German citizens has not been disclosed.

The data from the Police Crime Statistics (PKS) was released after a parliamentary request from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.

The data shows there were 119 offenses against sexual self-determination in outdoor and indoor pools in 2024. Of the suspects known to police, 42 were German citizens, while the other 76 were foreign suspects, including two of unknown nationality.

The data shows that of the foreign suspects, 22 were Afghans, 12 were Syrians, eight were Turks, six were Bulgarians, and six were Iraqis. Other nationalities included Albanians, Algerians, and Ukrainians, although this represented a smaller pool of suspects.

However, due to very recent changes in the way nationality is reported in North Rhine-Westphalia, it has also been revealed that of the German suspects, nine have another passport. That represents 21.4 percent of all German suspects having another foreign passport.

However, the data dive into swimming pool sexual crime does not end there.

The names of the German suspects were also released. Of the names released, some appear to be German, including names like Alexander and Daniel; however, the names Amir, Mahdi, and Mohamad (in several spellings), along with Seyed, also appear. These are all names that indicate a migration background of the suspects.

The offenses included are sexual coercion, rape, and abuse under Section 174 to 184j of the criminal code.

There appears to be some discrepancy in the data, with the report claiming in another section that there were actually 153 offenses, and that in 125 cases, the suspect did not know the victim. In other words, in nearly all cases, the suspect attacked a stranger.

Markus Wagner, the domestic policy spokesperson for the AfD parliamentary group in the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament, requested the data. He told the Nius outlet, which published the data: “The CDU wanted to avoid unpleasant images at the border, and now we have them in our swimming pools. More than two-thirds of the suspects in sexual offenses there have a migration background.” This fact can neither be glossed over nor ignored. We must do what the CDU at the state and federal levels is too cowardly to do: secure borders, stop the influx, and enforce repatriation wherever legally.”

Notably, foreigners only make up approximately 14 percent of North Rhine-Westphalia’s population.

Similar situation in other German states

The data comes after other states reported on sexual assaults in German swimming pools.

Crime soared 65 percent in Lower Saxony’s swimming pools, and foreigners account for a huge share of these crimes, according to German government data released in response to a parliamentary inquiry from the Alternative for Germany (AfD).

The data shows that crime at swimming pools in the German state went from 780 cases in 2023 to 1,286 in 2024.

For sexual crimes, foreigners make up 41.67 percent of perpetrators in 2024, with 13 Syrian suspects and seven Afghan suspects among the foreigners arrested. In total, there were 116 sexual crime cases in 2024 in Lower Saxony swimming pools.
