Republicans Accuse Sesame Street Of “Grooming Children,” Push For Defunding

“This is evil and should infuriate every parent in America”

Congressional Republicans have accused PBS of “grooming” kids after Sesame Street’s official social media pages put out ‘Pride month’ posts.

As we highlighted yesterday, the pages for the show shared the same post on the first day of June, which is the beginning of an entire month of the LGBTQ+ celebration, aside from the ever present Pride dystopia we’re all forced to inhabit.

The posts feature a graphic of rainbow coloured puppets holding hands, yes the transgender colours are included.

The Hill reports that the Republican Study Committee (RSC), a coalition of GOP House members, responded to the posts with a meme of Sen. Bernie Sanders and the words “I am once again asking PBS to stop grooming children.”

Other House and Senate Republicans Chimed in, with many calling for further defunding PBS.

Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL) described the posts as “evil,” urging that it “should infuriate every parent in America.”

“Federal funds aren’t for grooming,” Sen. Mike Lee remarked.

Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs commented, “PBS is grooming children on American taxpayers’ dime. This is unacceptable. Congress must defund them and hold the executives accountable.”

There is already an upcoming House vote to defund PBS and NPR, which receive roughly half a billion dollars in public money, and this just adds fuel to the fire.

The vote comes one month after Trump signed an executive order halting funds to both the public broadcasters in an order  titled, “ENDING TAXPAYER SUBSIDIZATION OF BIASED MEDIA.”

NPR is suing Trump over the order, which declares that funding should only go to “fair, accurate, unbiased, and nonpartisan news coverage.”

  1. Why does every article about this mention a Bernie Sanders meme, but does not show that meme, and that meme does not appear in any internet search?

  2. ..wow, i haven’t watched/seen sesame street since i was a kid. to see what it’s mutated into is simply appalling..

  3. Defunding PBS is the right thing to do in this case. Politicians in the states condemning the grooming of children is also right on. Here in Canada very few, if any politicians would have the guts to say anything for fear of being fired and hauled before a human rights tribunal or something.
