Rick Wilson Claims Germany Has More Free Speech Than America

While German police literally raid people for insulting politicians.

Never Trumper Rick Wilson ludicrously claimed that Germany has more free speech than America and that JD Vance’s comments on the issue were ‘offensive’ to the German government.

Yes, really.

During his speech at the Munich Security Conference on Friday, the Vice President said free speech was in dire peril across Europe, including Germany.

He cited cases in Germany where police have carried out home raids on citizens for posting ‘anti-feminist commentary’ online.

According to Wilson, Vance’s claims are absurd because Germany has better free speech protections than America.

“I communicated with someone from the German CSU a little while ago,” Wilson told MSNBC.

“I asked her about what she thought had happened with Vance and the degree to which they were shocked and appalled and offended that Vance came there daring to lecture Germany, one of the most free countries on earth when it comes to expression…was appalling and it was insulting,” he added.

Really?

That’s funny, because I don’t recall police in America smashing down people’s doors because they called a politician an “idiot” or “fat”.

That’s literally what happens in Germany.

Wilson’s remarks are rendered even more ludicrous given a now notorious 60 Minutes report which aired yesterday showing German authorities raiding the homes of people who had posted ‘racist memes’.

Officials interviewed for the report made clear that it is illegal in Germany to insult a politician and then laughed about seizing people’s phones and hitting them with huge fines for ‘hate speech’.

America still has a First Amendment, something Wilson appears to have completely forgotten about.

  1. This is utterly laughable. Here in the UK we’re severely punished for LESS than the krauts. But yeah. Germany is a bastion of free speech or something. Lmao

  2. Would this be the same German government literally trying to ban their biggest rival party because…democracy? At least they have an election in a few days (we have over 4 years to wait and a large number of local elections have been cancelled).

  3. Rick tried his hand at writing “Everything Trump Touches Dies (2018) and Running Against the Devil (2020)”. Publisher barely broke even.

Having worked for Bush Rick labels himself as a conservative. Been at the game since 88 and been wrong about everything consistently enough to appear on MSNBC occasionally. It’s their attempt to look unbias.
