Pollster Frank Luntz told CNN that Joe Biden calling Trump supporters “garbage” was a turning point which will have a “huge” effect on moving voters away from supporting Kamala Harris.
Biden handed a campaign gift to Trump when he reacted to comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s joke about Puerto Rico, which Democrats have been hysterical about for the last two days.
“The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters,” said Biden.
According to Luntz, who is by no means a fan of Donald Trump, the gaffe represents a massive boost to his chances of winning the presidency.

When CNN pointed out that the Harris campaign was trying to downplay the comments, including with the White House issuing a highly dubious clarification, Luntz said the damage was major.
“It’s gonna be huge,” responded Lunzt when asked if the controversy would “move voters.”
“Because this is not some comedian saying something stupid and offensive at a rally where he should have been basically disinvited,” said Lunzt.
“This is the president of the United States endorsing his vice president saying something, and I know there’s different interpretations about what he said – it’s still inappropriate,” he added.
Lunzt said he watched Trump seize upon the comments and compared the situation to Hillary Clinton’s infamous “basket of deplorables” moment which went some way to costing her the election in 2016.
“In 2024, I can promise you that this is gonna drive Trump turnout,” said Lunzt, adding, “This may be a turning point for those final 3 per cent, and that’s all it is, who still need to be persuaded.”
As we highlighted earlier, CNN admitted that Biden’s comments caused “significant harm” to Kamala’s campaign, while Vivek Ramaswamy even suggested that the remarks were deliberate because Biden dislikes Harris so much.
