While Republicans in Congress immediately called for military strikes on Iran following an attack on a US outpost close to the Jordanian border which killed three American soldiers and injured a further 25, Donald Trump has called for peace.
Senator Tom Cotton called for “devastating military retaliation” in Iran.
Lindsey Graham stated that “the only thing the Iranian regime understands is force,” further calling for the US to immediately “hit them hard.”
Texas Senator John Cornyn dropped a two word post:
Donald Trump’s response, in comparison, was more measured as he called for “peace through strength,” adding that “our country cannot survive with Joe Biden as Commander in Chief.”
Backlash against the hawkish Republican response was swift:

Okay, so Iran is denying involvement in the strike. The best way to prove that is to hit the militia that launched the drone. Hard! At this point it’s pretty much the only way to avoid a hard strike on them. Not that they will, but if it can be proven they did hit them hard in retaliation for the “unauthorized” attack, then Iran and the government could avoid a very costly strike. Not that Iran would do this, but it’s worth floating the idea. After all Iran has been known to slaughter it’s own people in numbers, so why not? Plus it would avoid WW3.

This part of the world understands power only. Biden is weak , Obama was weak. Peace through strength is the only logical path. That said the US absolutely must respond with overwhelming force against Iran directly, Yemen and every Iran proxy in Iraq and Syria. Pound them so hard it shakes their confidence. Only then should the US step back and offer peace if they want it.
