More bets are reportedly being placed on Michelle Obama winning the presidency than Joe Biden, even though she isn’t running (yet).
GB News reports that the Betfair exchange has seen 10.9 percent of bets this year placed on Obama being the winner, while Biden has garnered 10.6 percent.
In addition, Donald Trump’s odds have shortened to 6/5 (45% chance), marking him as the favourite, While Biden is 2/1 (33% chance).
Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom noted that “Astonishingly, more bets have been taken on Obama to be the next US president than incumbent Joe Biden so far in 2024.”
He added that “Trump is now the 6/5 favourite to win the US election, his shortest ever odds since the market opened.”
“In fact, a whopping £45,000 has been matched on Betfair Exchange in the past 24 hours in favour of Trump making a triumphant return to the White House in the latter part of the year,” Rosbottom continued, adding “Looking at the overall picture, he completely dominates it.”
The rumours of Michelle Obama preparing to run continue, with NY Post columnist Cindy Adams claiming that sources have told her Barack Obama has polled donors asking how they’d feel about his wife as the Democratic candidate.
Adams seems convinced that Obama is going to be on the ticket.
Megyn Kelly discussed the rumour on her show earlier this week, noting that the timeline is for a May announcement before the August convention:
Michelle Obama recently stated that she is kept awake at night by the prospect of Donald Trump winning the election, adding that “We cannot take this democracy for granted and sometimes I worry that we do.”
JP Morgan Asset Management strategist Michael Cembalest has predicted that Joe Biden will not make it to the 2024 election in November and will drop out of the race due to poor health.
Trump himself is also adamant that he will not be running against Biden.
