Donald Trump issued a statement Saturday night warning Republican voters to stay away from Vivek Ramaswamy, labelling him “deceitful,” “sly,” and describing the businessman as “not MAGA.”
Trump issued the statement on Truth Social, writing “Vivek started his campaign as a great supporter, ‘the best President in generations,’ etc. Unfortunately, now all he does is disguise his support in the form of deceitful campaign tricks.”
He continued, “Very sly, but a vote for Vivek is a vote for the “other side” — don’t get duped by this,” adding “Vote for ‘TRUMP,’ don’t waste your vote! Vivek is not MAGA.”
Trump concluded that “The Biden Indictments against his Political Opponent will never be allowed in this Country, they are already beginning to fall! MAGA!!!”
The statement appears to have come after Ramaswamy posted a picture with supporters wearing t-shirts saying “Save Trump, Vote Vivek”.
The candidate was also filmed telling Trump supporters the same line:
Ramaswamy later said he stands by the decision to produce the shirts and the use the slogan:
He further declared that while he “respects the hell out of Trump,” he doesn’t stand a chance of winning the election because the system is rigged against him, with a plot (by whom is unclear) to ditch Trump and place Nikki Haley in the White House.
“Just because it’s wrong doesn’t mean it won’t happen and we owe it to our nation to take America-First forward,” Ramaswamy announced.
Vivek later responded to a Mike Flynn comment, again suggesting “they’re going to trot their puppet in,” in place of Trump.
