In a ridiculous development to the revelation that most police forces are allowing trans-identifying male officers to strip search women, the UK government has told police chiefs that the officers in question must present ‘gender ID papers’.
As we highlighted earlier this week, research by the Women’s Rights Network has revealed that the majority of police forces in the country have implemented the policy after extensive lobbying by transgender activists.
The report also noted that a serving female officer claims to have been threatened with disciplinary proceedings for voicing opposition to the policy.
Now, the Times reports that “Ministers have told police chiefs to stop transgender officers conducting strip searches unless they have a gender recognition certificate.”
Policing minister Chris Philp told parliament’s home affairs committee that trans-identifying police officers need to be “in possession of a formal court authorised gender recognition certificate,” in order to strip search women.
So, essentially, the government is suggesting it’s ok for women to be stripped naked and touched by a bloke as long as he has a certificate saying he’s a woman.
Yes, really. This is how far down this insane road we are.
