X owner Elon Musk chimed in on ageing punk band Green Day’s attempt to stay relevant, accusing the group of ‘raging for the machine’ by changing the lyrics of one of their songs.
The band, led by craggy eye liner wearing frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, altered the words to their early 2000’s song ‘American Idiot’ during ABC’s annual Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve show.
Armstrong, now aged 51 but still sporting bleached hair as if he is a teenager, replaced the words “I’m not a part of the redneck agenda,” with “I’m not a part of the MAGA agenda.”
Stunning and brave, you must agree.
Musk shared a report on the incident, noting “Green Day goes from raging against the machine to milquetoastedly raging for it.”
Others pointed out that the original lyrics of American Idiot were embraced by Americans at the time who stood in opposition to the warmongering neocon administration led by George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. Ironic then that Trump is the only President of the modern era not to have sent Americans to war.
