A Santa Claus performer was attacked by a group of Muslim youths and forced to flee in Germany, according to a report in the Hessische Allgemeine newspaper.
The report notes that Police in the city of Kassel, are searching for the gang who committed actual bodily harm against a middle-aged man dressed up as Santa Claus who was on his way to perform at an event in Hesse last week.
The report further notes that the victim described the attackers as teenagers of a migrant background, telling police they called him a “son of a bitch” and a “fat man” and demanded that he remove his Santa costume.
The 54-year-old also claimed that the group told him that he was in “their country,” before being forced to fight them off as they tore at his festive clothing.
The man also claimed that there were several witnesses who applauded the attackers and laughed rather than trying to intervene to help.
The report notes that while the victim was able to attend his scheduled event, photographs with kids were cancelled due to the injuries and damage to his costume.
The performer vowed to “carry on,” as Santa but said he will arm himself with pepper spray in the future.
